Well Like I don’t have enough projects I decided to start another. Lets start with a brief description of myself.Hello, I am Kenneth Noland, I am a white male six feet tall weighing app. 145. I have owned a car since I was thirteen. It all started with a 69 dodge dart original 383 car and from there my love for the automobile has just blossomed into an addiction. I am now 19 and already have a model a coupe that I built for my senior project, the Noland Coupe. This next coupe will be a fully custom show custom inspired by many on the HAMB, old magazines, and just custom cars themselves. That’s enough about me though lets talk about the car I plan on building. The car itself is just a 1931 model A coupe that was street rodded in the seventies. Most of . . . All of the work is shaky at best. The poor little coupe was subjected to a plywood firewall and dash. The suspension is anything but safe its got a reversed corvair front end just bolted in with like four 3/8 bolts. The rear isn’t much better its all held in with a bunch of scrap and has a stupid quarter elliptical setup. I could probably go on for days about all the shit that was wrong with this car. The driveshaft look two inches to short and is ready to fall out of the tranny. Its got glass fenders and trunklid . And on top of that from sitting outside for years on end the poor little coupe turned into a real rust bucket. Now your probably wonder what my plans are with this rusty piece of crap car. Well Im going to make one hell of a ride out of it. I am going to keep the glass fenders and the 289 but that’s about it. As for the body its going to go under the knife for a little reconstructing of a different type. Once all my rust work is done there is a long list of modifications to be done to it including a 32 windshield and custom build header, leaned windshield post, and eliminating the post between the door glass and quarter glass. As for the frame it will be a custom build unboxed z’ed frame. The z will be five inches front and back. I will use the front halve off the factory model A frame and the rest will be sort of one off. It will also have a x member from a 34 ford frame. I also plan on tig welding just about everything on the car. This car I plan will just be wild I hope so anyways. It will be a early to mid sixties show rod with all the bells and whistles. The little coupe is going to be a channeled full fendered car with Front and rear nerf bars, lots of chrome, quad headlight, an awesome interior and best of all it will be one of a kind. Well here it is just another streetrodded coupe just waiting for its destiny These are the headlights Its going to have. They are Edsel I just glassed them to the glass fenders easy as pie. this is how it looks after a few drinks doesnt look to bad And a shot with the rear fender off getting the body ready to be lifted off the frame Thats about it for now I promise there will be plenty more to come
sorry about the photos guys photobuckets being gay does anyone have a better site for that type of thing
Hey Noland... I can envision that car in a silver blue metallic, with white interior and lots of chrome for that snazzy 60's show car look. You're off to a good start and it's different in a good way. Keep us updated! Best of luck man.
Thanks CJ yeah a white interior with blue cording though Hey HRP what you scared of alittle change in you life
You're going to get a lot of people telling you the headlights look funky blah blah blah.... just ignore it. I've got pretty good vision and can see a winner there if you do it right. Sure it looks a little rough right now but you're just beginning man. If it looks like rancid ass when it's done i'll be sure to let ya know. For the time being... i'm just going to stay positive because I can see an awesome 60's styled show car in the making. With the headlights out in front, I would definately go with a split chrome bumper in the front to offset the bulkiness of the quad lights. If Barris and other 60's show car builders told people to try and envision what he was building BEFORE he was done building it... I bet a large percentage of people would've thrown up in their mouths... but for the most part he and the others built some pretty sweet rides. You're just trying to do something different and it's a theme that's supported by the HAMB. Go for it man.
Something else to consider... if you do an awesome job on the rest of the car, and the quad lights don't work out... they're just fiberglass fenders anyway. Unbolt 'em and hang 'em up in the shop. Put on some stock fenders, or leave 'em off and run '29-'32 lights like everyone and they're mother does. No harm in that. Atleast you TRIED. Edit: Forgot to ask... have you thought about moving the front fenders back a couple inches? Maybe it's just the angle of the pics, but it would help the front aesthetics quite a bit.... just a thought....
It's your car,,,BTW,,I followed the last coupe and it turned out good,,,but the quad headlights killed it for me,,,I just have never liked them,,even back in the sixtys,,,again your car,, HRP
I,m thinking you should find a pic of when it was first built and painted....rebuild it to the way it was.Quads don,t do it for me.Looks too wide, maybe Lincoln canted lights?
