After all my questions and chasing parts over the past seven months I thought you guys might like to see what it was all about. The drive train is a 283 with a 327/300 cam with machine/blueprint by The Engine Shop in Upper Darby, (great work!). The trans is a '39 Ford box with Ford gears, (Ace and Pete), and a '40 rear shortened, running a Posie spring. The Brookville body was picked up after Posies open house last Jan. and sits on one of my frames with '40 style X member. The rest is pretty standard. Just a word of thanks to all the guys on the HAMB, at Hudsons' Performance in Pottstown, Hawk Mountain Inspections, the girls at PennDot, and everyone else who helped me in finding the "old ways" and sourcing all the odd parts. See you all at the Hoedown
Great roadster Larry...the stance is killer and that blue knocks me out. Thanks for the ride today! Jerry
Thanks for the complements guys! I just can't wait to get some serious road time. HomemadeHardtop57 was over today, he punched the louvered hood for me and we went for a slight cruise and it ran perfect. I had my wife in the car and we made it 2 blocks and I lost all fuel pressure and it left me set! Definitly hot rod Karma! Nothing screws up until she's with you! Just something stupid I'm sure. It sure feels good on the road. A real hot rod. My last roadster was too much of a street rod. This one is all hot rod. I'm going to sort the bugs out over the next week as we head for Wildwood and the Boardwalk Nationals on the 24th. Maybe I'll see some of your there?
Well done. Until I hit on this thread I had no idea what you were building. I like a true Hot Rod and think you hit a home run. Did a new master cyl. fix the brake issue? The Wizzard
Pist-n-Broke, I couldn't locate a master cylinder locally this weekend, It'll have to wait until Tuesday after the holiday. I'm pretty much convinced thats what it is. I'll P.M. and let you know.
As a quick update on my roadster- When I built the car it was setup for both a small block and a flatty. This week I started on the 276 Incher I'm building for it. The Chev. got me on the road and rolling, now the Flatty will make it even more fun. Plans are, Scat crank and rods, (probably not necessary but really neat), Navarro or Edelbrock heads and some type of dual 97's manifold, probably an Eddie Meyers Hollywood if I don't find anything interesting in a vintage piece. Gotta have some real cool homemade outside headers. I'll post up pics as I progress.
Koz, Your roadster looks great ! My wife would love the color you picked (her dream car is a '34 Ford Phaeton - just that color). Looking forward to when you get the Flattie installed. 41 Dave
I love the dual-purpose mount idea . The flathead will take the cool roaster to a new level ! Take lotta of pics - can't wait to see the progress .
