You know.. I never even questioned whether the two sides matched before! I bet you are seeing lines in your sleep right about now! -Dave
3 insane days of masking is coming to an end! While it feels good that it's soon over, a part of me wants to continue every blank spot on the body while I'm on a roll
After 3 days of just masking, sleeping 5 hours each night I see a lot og scrolls and lines....life has a new meaning now
We made it! We're done masking the lines!!! It took 3 days from start to end! Tomorrow we'll start painting
Olav / Sondre - "Ermine White" is a very appropriate base color for the Kustomrama '57 MAZE Ranchero ... as "Ermine" was the name given to the white paint color that first appeared on 1955 Lincolns, 1958 Chryslers, and 1960 Chevrolets: click thumbnails to enlarge
This is gonna be good! I'm excited to see the color. Is it just the way it looks in the pictures or did you choose a different shade of green?
Looking at your lines ... made me pop open some beers. No way in hell could I do all that. How does one ensure uniform matching sides ? I see no paper, no perforation wheels, no graphite dust .... yikes, nothing ! Are you that good ... did ya' just wing it ??? Good God man ! Beer me !! Have fun tomorrow. It'll be awesome for sure. Talented fellas'.
This!! It makes my head hurt trying to keep tape lines straight when laying out stripes and such! This is incredible, can't wait to see the end result. Absolutly stunning so far!
Sondre, Those radii all appear smooth and even, and the lines straight and crisp. You've got a good eye, and a steady hand!
Fucking nightmare to outline. Speaking as a pinstriper that everyone likes to pay with pizzas that I never get.
We tried to find a color as close as possible, based on old color photos. I think we vame out pretty good, at least it looks good
And we're on like donkey kong!! The silver/blue came out great I think. We added lavender pearl as well to try and mimic the paint as it looks in the Big Book of Barris!
Color saturation on those old photos is all over the map. I'm glad to hear about the lavender addition to the silver, which I think is approximate in these photos. (All pics from Kustomrama.) But perhaps my favorite images of all are these, in which the stark black panels appear to have been softened with some definite fades. Will This be true of the Kustomrama truck, as well?
It took 3 guys and 4 hours to mask up the black areas...the clock is now 5.30 in the morning, and we're ready to roll! Go Green or Go Home!
According to the "Frilled Ford" article in the 1960 Custom Cars Annual the colours are listed as: Green-Gold, Gold, Lime Gold, Lavender, Burgundy, Candy Apple (!), Chinese Blue and Red. Of course these are all pretty vague descriptions, but it can give you an idea of how they got to where they ended up. You've bitten off a lot ..and shown you can handle it and then some! Car is going to be a phenomenal tribute. Awesome! -Dave
That is plum in middle of awesome and epic! I have no clue witch one is the most powerful word, but they both is very fitting for the enormous task you have taking on your self! I have NEVER been a fan of those psychedelic paint jobs, but I have always been in awe of the dedication, craftsmanship , exceptional hand-eye coordination that lays behind an enormous task of a paintjob!!! So now a candy apple paintjob over silver an gold, with red dividers should be a walk in the park now [emoji12][emoji41][emoji106]
