I thought I would post an update on what I have been doing over the last month or so, I have now finished rewiring 90% of the coupe, got all the gauges working accurately except for the speedo still needing some work, remounted the booster and fitted an old fire extinguisher as a back up tank for the booster, this has improved the braking so much, redone the carbs and tuned them to the best I can get them. Lowered the rear of the car another inch or so, it's sitting better again now. Still lots of little things to do and to change around to personalise it to how I want it to be, but it's all about having the time. I also found and have now picked up a heater that I will also Install soon as well. Anyway Merry Christmas and Happy New year to everyone on here.

Good work GaryD. I went for a quick ride this morning to visit Gazza who has been pretty busy lately showing his coupe a bit of love and in true Gaz style he has painted it just to entertain himself. If all goes well it will be assembled and running tomorrow. image.jpeg image.jpeg

Gary , looking at old Jake has made my day. Your work really shines as it looks ACE and am really glad that you are taking good care of it . Looking at it brought a lot of memories of when I swapped a 1935 coupe for it and dragged it home, I had a lot of energy then and from reading books and teaching myself how to build a hot rod and collecting all the parts for it brought a lot of happiness to me .It was my first chop and liking true American hot rods , I Set about building this rod, and with lots of work my dream came true . And now the dream lives on in your care bro.

    Tom your pickup looks great.
Sure the roof on your roadster will turn out excellent Tony, I remember having a long chat about roadster tops afew years ago with you discussing points I`d never noticed before.

Tommy I love the support you give the Cranksters cruise. It means a lot and you're cars are always a highlight. Man if you can get the Aussie coupe done in time it would be great.

It was both an honnor and a privilidge to put some finishing touches on Jake.

A couple of months before Xmas, Tony and I were talking and he said it would be great to get his coupe down to Port Fairy before Xmas. Well a few weeks before Xmas I made it happen. The bonus being I got to bring my 3W home.

I was down at Port Fairy mid week and Tony had been going out to Carol and Frank's on a Wednesday night to work on the 5W to get it going before the Port Fairy run.

I made a gauge cluster and of course I played with the gauges. The 3W now has a name 'Speed Jalopy'. The word speed was in the speedo, I came up with the jalopy in my collection of stickers/decals.

The steering column did't have the right bell at the top to match the '40 wheel. So I made one to replace it.

I also changed the tail-lights and relocated the indicators.

I also made a new switch panel, using the same material as I did for the gauge cluster.

  29. Was good to be able to check out Tony's aussie coupe last weekend and I bet you're glad to have your 3 window home Geoff. Also good to catch up with Tom and a few other blokes at the rod show. Yesterday me, my uncle and a couple of mates went over to the Colac car show, it was a decent turn out of cars although we didn't get to see alot of them. After looking around about half the show, we went over to the pub for lunch. We got sidetracked with the usual bench racing etc and when we got back to the show it was all over. It was a good day aside from losing a hubcap on the way home and getting in trouble with th missus for coming home 3 hours late and a little drunk. nothing that a little sucking up/housework today couldn't fix ;)

Well seeing we are all catching up I am slowly getting use to being alone in the shed as everybody went home after the rod run. I have been making my roof bows as I will be taking the roadster to the trim shop, as with Mark the boss and myself are going to trim the top, cutting it real fine as we are leaving here on Thursday as we will be going to the reliability run on the w/end. I hope I make it, with all this extra work my back pain has been unbearable but I push myself as it will be worth it in the end .
