    G'day guys
It's been a while since I last corresponded but I have been very busy working on the roadster project and getting things advanced as quickly as possible since I let my so cool pickup go to a new owner. I have been busy getting the motor ingredients together and i know the Big T will love reading all of this! You started all of this mate!!

Motor will be a twin fire with Hogan heads and I will use a very cool old Aussie manifold I have had for ages. The block has been ported by myself and at the machinist Atm. Everything collected for the full motor build but sadly this motor will be 239 ci I can't bore or stroke this block but will do. I have an L100 cam for it that I'm excited to run as it will really make a stock motor pep up, it's an old east coast grind and can't wait to hear it fire !! I did a very extensive port job so hopeful it provides me some performance ?

The chassis is coming together nicely. It is a genie 32 and will house a 5.1/2" old chrome from the day drop axle from Texas, 32 wishbone, 36 rear rods magnesium qc converted to splined axles. 8ba I'm building coupled to a Toyota supra 5 speed. Original rhd peddles, hq cross steer- simple but right set up

    image.jpeg

I have also found all the very hard to get back mounted Stewart Warner guages. Got the full house set, speedo, tacho and the all the smaller gauges. I also scored an nos crank driven tachometer drive !!

This rod will be painted in my garage galopy style no fuss with minimal bodywork. I am having so much fun and everything is working out to plan. Will post more pics as the project progresses.

But like I mentioned earlier I wrote allot here Tone so you can momentarily forget about the pain and imagine this thing coming down your road - sometime soon !!

Ohh here is a pic of the wheels and it will be fully fendered.

Although rushed, it was great to catch up with Geoff and family on my return trip from Melbourne last weekend. We worked out it had been about 17 years between visits. My daughter and I talked about it on the long drive north. She said Geoff is cool.

Thank you for the goodies Geoff, I fitted the '40 truck column top to the '36 today. Looks a whole lot neater.

Chad it was great to see you after such a long time and was a pleasure to meet Phoenix. I hope I didn't bore you both to tears showing you around my lil hot rod world.
I am glad that the '40 column top was of use to you. A bit of a story behind that piece, but I won't go into it here.
I talked to Tony the next day on the phone and said you had visited. He said to say hi.
Simon, Tony's recovery has been quite slow. I think there was some hope that the pins may be removed from his ankle later this week. The whole process this far has been hard and very painful at times on him. As well as being tough on Rita and the whole family.
Along with his weekly physio-therapy, I try to ring each week and give him a dose of hot rod therapy via the meaningful wisdom I impart on him. Yeah right!!!
Life tends to throw up so much of the unexpected. Not long after Rita and Tony's accident my family experienced the passing of my brother-law. This has had a real impact on us.
I have had no desire to post here. But I think I need to try and move on a bit. During all of this I have been totally engrossed in working on the interior of my 3 window. I haven't been photographing the progress. So I guess I need to get the camera out and get some shots.

PS Chad; That's a neat shot in my garage, damn I look so much like my dad!!

Yes, thanks for the updates with Tony and Rita Geoff. No boring stories out of your garage, I'm just sorry it was rushed and the visit was sprung on you and your family but I'm glad I stopped in as we have talked about driving down for years. Will have to catch up again so you can tell me all about that column.
I have a couple of shots of your progress, hope you don't mind them here. I really like your plan with the car and it fits the theme for the Douglas Special :)

So what have I been doing on my 3W , this last few months?
I have been primarily concentrating on the interior.
My first job was to make a partition between the trunk and the cabin. This included a small parcel shelf. But I had to do something special by including some of my bead rolled Tuck n Roll.

Next was an aluminium panel, with Tuck n Roll, for the inside of the firewall.

Continuing on, I next wanted to do garnish moulds around the windows on the doors. I thought about making some, but I had got a pair of fibreglass ones whenI I bought the coupe off Peter. They would need cutting up to fit and I reckon the lower section of them looked to bulky. So I had a think and decided to do away with the lower section. I had to get the remainder fitting by cutting and lengthening them. But I am very happy with the results. Especially since this is my first time working with fibreglass.

I also needed a rear window garnish mold, so I made one.

My next job was to partially make new door jams. When this body was pieced together in the form of a hot rod, the 'B' and upper door jams only consisted of square tubing with the body panels tack welded on. Unfortunately this body had big gaps inside in relation to the doors. So me being me I had to address this. Basically I made covers ( door jams, if you will ) that would attach over the existing square tube.
From the images it is hard to get an idea of how much was involved to make these. But lets just say, my folder, shrinker/stretcher and bead roller got a real work out; as did my lateral thinking and creativity!

So the last thing I have been working on is a header panel, which is now complete and ready for paint.

It's a terrible day here to be painting, but I wanted to get some color on the header panel. So I cranked up some heat here in the garage, got some blues happening on youtube and went for it.
Got the header panel sitting back in the coupe, but the brass screws will have to wait a day or so for the paint to fully harden.

Thought I had better put together an image as a means of hot rod therapy for Tony. I know this will definitely put a smile on his face.
There's been many cool ol hot rods parked in that driveway over the years!!
