Having lowered Carol and Frank's coupe the same amount in the last image I had a play and dropped the front just a touch more!

I forgot all about this until I started unloading the 3W and sorting stuff out.
The neat part about going through places are neat old shops. I dropped into an old bookshop when I was in the gold fields region I was travelling through. Boy did I strike gold when I came across a bunch of old hot rod magazines. In amongst them was one I never knew existed. Unfortunately I had to pay more than the 40 cent cover price, but you get that.

I was talking to Tony yesterday morning. After seeing the threads I had recently posted, he said I needed to show a couple more of those magazine treasures I found on my week away!

    Thanks guys.
Yeah the yearbook is OK. I probably should have put different wheels on the Austin and maybe changed some of the the great names of hot rodding shown as contributors, to some Aussie names.

Awesome Geoff! With you're permission I'd like to print this to stick to the shed wall as kind of a goal to work towards.

Since getting back from my week away I have basically unloaded the 3W and had a rest from it. This last couple of days I have looked at the speedo, that quit working whilst I was away. Upon opening it up I found that the spring that allows the speedo needle to return to lower speeds and to zero had destroyed itself.
It is not a compression type spring, but a very delicate spring, similar to those found in watches. So I thought I would need to get a professional on the job. I looked online and in the yellow pages. But unfortuately there was none in my local area that does the kind of work needed to repair my speedo. So then I got to thinking, maybe I could retro fit the mechanism from another speedo. So that is what I have been doing, I haven't quite finished this job, but it is all coming together. I may do a series of shots to show what I did.

The next big job I will be doing to the 3W is fitting a T5 five speed gearbox. I have been thinking about this for a while.
I have rebuilt the Muncie Rockcrusher in the 3W. Unfortunately Rockcrushers do whine a bit in 1st, 2nd and 3rd and I have just decided I want a nice quiet user friendly transmission. The Cadillac in the 3W tends to be a bit thirsty, so the .62 overdrive in the T5 will help out there.
I have a transmission and have done a bit of research about them online and have a plan on how it will all come together in my 3W. This job probably won't happen for a few months yet.

I still like the Yearbook cover the best.....If you have time, fill us in as you do the T5 to Cad conversion. I may have one to do next year, and I could use some tips... Thanks, Geoff...

No worries Kiwi tinbender. I do have a couple of interesting thoughts as to how I will be fitting it to the existing bellhousing/adaptor.
Their is lots of information online about them. Also I came across a very comprehensive thread on here about them! Below is a link.
Gearbox technology has come a long since the Muncies were first produced.

  25. That popular hot rodding cover wins it for me so far, I love that style of build (especially the red '32) and if I can ever afford a '32 - '34 that is the style I'd build it in.

Also I just remembered I have bunch of pictures that I took at greazefest a month or so ago. I'll post them here tonight if anyone's interested?

I don't know that I have a favorite. I guess I just enjoy creating them.
This next one, I didn't change the '34 roadster; as it is one of my all time favorite hot rods. Also this time I added a US image in the lower corner. In all the other covers I have added Australian images.
Yeah they are a great style those 2 coupes FB.
Yes please on the images from Greasefest.

The following 6 covers were done well over 20 years ago. Long before I ever had a computer, so they were done with paper, glue, letraset dry transfer lettering, scissors tape, photographs and color photocopies. Very labor intensive.

  28. Hey Whodaky
Magazine covers are awsome, loved the road trip story, caught up with Tommy at Nagambie last weekend. You have to write a book soon my friend?

  29. Here are my pictures from Greazfest Melbourne 13/08/16. I went down and stayed with my younger brother for the weekend to catch up before he went away on holiday to Canada and the U.S. for a month, I only realized that Greazefest was going to be on a couple of days before I went down. It turned out he and Some friends were going to the footy on the Saturday which I had no interest in so it was the perfect opportunity to check out the show. I had never been to Greazefest before but it was a good little show with some killer bands playing, there were some nice cars there although judging by some pictures I saw on line, the turn out of cars was better on the Sunday. 100_3203.JPG 100_3204.JPG 100_3206.JPG 100_3207.JPG 100_3209.JPG 100_3210.JPG 100_3211.JPG 100_3212.JPG 100_3214.JPG 100_3216.JPG 100_3219.JPG 100_3220.JPG 100_3221.JPG 100_3222.JPG 100_3223.JPG

Here's the special guest for the event Von HotRod doing his thing. It was great to just stand and watch him work, one of the best in the biz for good reason.
