Sad day for GM, from I think it was 3rd or 4th biggest car maker in 1955 to this..... Olds got beaten by the same stick as the rest of the US manufactures post the Muscle car deal, every thing went ugly, quality went down the crapper, building the wrong cars for the time.......
I had hoped with some of the leaps in styling, quality and engines that Olds may survive guess its hard to do when the company has no pride in its history.

It's all about the benjamins bro. Daewoo et al are in the Oriental (read CHINA) market, which is set to EXPLODE soon. 2 billion potential customers, compared to 270 or so million here, with a buttload more choices.

Interesting but OT fact - The chinese have to pay over $4000 a year USD in taxes to get tags for a car, not to mention the $10,000 USD or more it takes to get a license. It won't be exploding any time soon as far as the automotive industry goes. The electric bike industry indeed. They passed legislation to outlaw gas motorcycles and scooters by 2005 in time for the olympics. The most popular car in China is the VW passat and the Audi A6. Their midrange luxury market is huge because the richer folks can afford the licensing fees.

(I just got back from china last month) [IMG]
