Event Coverage The last roundup for Shades of The Past show, some of the good ones from Friday.

The organizers for the Shades of the Past show are hanging it up after 39 years, this is advertised as the last one. The crowds of spectators were as large as I have ever seen in all my 20 plus years of attendance and the number of cars seemed to be about normal. The weather was very cooperative and the small percentage of rain in the forecast never arrived. All in all a great Friday, hopefully the weather will again be cooperative and the forecast rain won't show.
There were a fair number of HAMB qualified cars there, here are a few that got my attention.

Thanks for sharing your photos…In all the years I attended Shades it always brought out a huge number of quality cars. A shame this event will no longer be held.

From what I recall reading from last year , unruly spectators & participants , plus the sheer number of people had become too large to control .

 

This Cabriolet looks exactly like the car a fellow Tri - City Rod & Custom club member and NSRA State Rep. the late Will Drake owned more than 20 years ago. HRP

 

Thanks for the good pics. I thought about driving over Saturday, but the weather looked sketchy. I rather preferred it when the show was in the cow pasture, but still sorry to see it’s going away.

I went for the day, but my knee barely got me through the swap meet.
Still found a couple of GREAT DEALS on pieces I actually needed.
Looks like a scooter is in my future. Heaven forbid!

Grand Run is next weekend, and if there is no Shades next year, it will get bigger, providing they have the space at LeConte Center. I doubt it.

 

Speaking of the Grand Run. Do they have decent swap meet? Or any swap at all?
