  3. Really nice lookin ride and the bar is a great fit! I guess I'm a lemming, though, because I honestly think the background should be flat black. I know you didn't ask, so feel free to ignore the hell outta me. :D

Very nice! Great idea for grillebar too, even if I tend to agree with Nads on color.

What kind of rearwindow did you use for the chop. Chopjob looks *****in!

    Cool!!!!!

The back window used was a 49 ford.

Here's the other problemwith painting the back ground black.
When you open the hood, only the front area will be black. Now, i'm no professional anything, but i think that would probably look like **** having a flat black front to the core support, then everything else white..
NO, i don't plan on parking the car with the hood open, i HATE that on customs, but i also don't want it to look like an afterthought if i do open the hood..
Advice has been noted..And i will honestly give this some thought..
First i wanna get it on the road though.. :D

    Thanks!

I agree with Nads. That grill rules, and blacking out the cavity would bring it out even more.

Either way, the car has a lot of cl***. Very nicely done.

Bro, the ride is killer looking, you had me scared with the first pic. (all that white and only the small floating bar... but the pic belowed calmed me down with the grill surround on it. (Now I need to do mine you *******).

Looking at the 57 bar, I could see some 54 or early corvette grill teeth on them with the small outer marker lights. a slimmer 53 look..............

Now back to the white grill opening, take it for a long road trip or frive it in the rain and let me know how much fun it is to clean it up.................. its purty now thou...

Didn't you say that was the same color I am painting my Sedan.....

I think it's the same color..
I'm not worried about cleaning the grill area, it's the wheel wells that are gonna ****! :D

In the pics, the bar looks smaller than it does in person. I think part of that was i took the pics on my lift, so thats kinda eye level. it does make it look different.

I went overboard on this one. Yeah, you can call me a "street rodder" or "goldchainer" or whatever, i just really like thing's clean and detailed.
Thats my 'thing' , i can't help that.

  15. As for the 'blackening out' issue, I tend to agree, but I also see the problem if you take the 'easy' way out and just 'flat black' it. what if you did similar to the factory, and add a mesh division (which is coated flat black).........A bit of stuffing round but then you could have your cake and eat it to.........

Beautiful car, a credit to you.

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:D

I cast my vote for the white T&R.
You could put a black screen in there when you drive it.
Easier to keep it clean, and it would tell you if you want it black or white.
Those bumpers are in pretty nice shape. They'll look fine until you get the coin to rechrome.
Nice work. For a DOUCHE! hehe
    See you at Syracuse.

Dave, there is NO WAY IN HELL this thing is better than that Merc!
    that car flat out ROCKS!
Thanks for the nice words though..One of these day's well park 'em next to each other so i can get a pic of my 'pile next to a real custom!
I didn't have the heart to take the bar outta the 57, beside's the one in it ****s. It needs a new one too.:D

And hopefully next year we'll make the trip to the rumble..It just never seems to work out, too many other thing's going on and Syracuse is just around the corner for us.

I set the car down last night and spent dome time looking at it again. I still dig the white, call me goofy, but i do.

Like i said, it'll stay that way for a while..
    i just wanna drive it!

Steve you want it chopped and frenched, no problem! we'll have the shop up and running by fall..bring it up and i'll call you when i'm done! :D
The other rims and tire's are on another 53 i just bought. I use them as roll around tires for different car's that don't have wheels.. there just 14" steel wheels with kinda ****py wide white's. the're not really worth anything.

  23. If ya wanna try something cheap to see if you like the mesh behind, get some of that suspended ceiling square mesh covers that go over lights, it's cheap and easily cut. Cut it so you can install it without taking anything apart and paint it flat black, it's deep enough so that you'd have to be looking at the car head on and squating to see the white behind the grill bar.

Might be kinda cheesy to leave it that way on a car that nice, but you'd have an idea of what it would look like without the commitment of redoing all the pricey powdercoating.

Just a thought, the trad police don't need to jump all over me.
