Each year you wait the price goes up, I'm old enough to remember when nobody wanted these at all, too big and bulky compared to 57's.

Just keep banking all you can and keep looking at some point your banked money and the right car will come together.

  3. Here's what I do when I'm looking at a car to buy. I try to find reasons NOT to buy the car. If the bad outweighs the good, I pass on it. This goes for projects as well as used and new cars.

A good body is key unless you really like cutting out rust and welding new pieces in, some guys live for that, more power to those who do.

Well, i walked away from it :( it was a really neat car, all original never been messed with at all but in the end i would have spent more money that it was worth. Somebody just offered me an all original blue poly 58 impala, 283 and all. 14 grand. Only thing it needs is the little rear bumper "rockets" replaced.

    What'cha got in there, kid?

Same guy also offered me a 57 for 2 grand. Again, awesome car but it needs a ton of metal work not to mention all the glass[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

i'm actually tempted to go look at it. Besides my favorite cars, (58-59s) the 57 has gotta be number 3.

  9. The parking lights on the '58 look like a pair of engines on a B52.

  14. Most '57 Chevy trunk pans are swiss cheese. Big benefit to a '57, almost anything is available for it.

I'm not a 5/6/7 kind of guy personally. But next to a 32, 57s seem to have the biggest number of fans. Because of that, parts are plentiful, and relatively inexpensive (compared to others). If you really want a 58, you should be able to do a 57, sell it for s profit and find a nicer 58 impala for less than you get for it.

as i'm looking at these pictures, both cars came from the same auction. Both say "801". must have been a killer auction

Allow me to point out that the 57 is a rare 210 Sport Coupe, a hardtop that is. Most 210's were sedans like mine and the HTs were often ''Bel Aired''. Two grand? What's wrong with it? Clear title? Bet you could flip it and make a profit.

It apparently needs some floor work and it obviously has some right quarter issues but other than that the body is fine. It needs everything though its just a roller. Was a v8 car from the looks of it

  21. I am going to look at two 57 BelAir Hardtops on Sunday. A friend I grew up with has had them both since 1970. I am afraid if I go look I will buy them both. He is asking $3,000 for both of them. One has a 307 with a 3 speed. The other is a roller only. Someone broke the windows out of the second car and jumped on the roof.

There is a 4 speed transmission with them too. I don't know if it is a Muncie or a T-10.

That trunk looks great. Chevy dude is right, 57 210 hardtops are pretty scarce. That one is worth the 2g's alone

The vin also confirms its a v8 210

Are the frames on tri fives rust prone? Overall the car looks like someone with about my skill level has attempted to make it solid but i dont know about the frame and the seller says its not at his house and he hasnt looked at it

I'd be all over that 57 if I was in your shoes my friend! Plus, it's already got the clutch pedal if you want to go with a nice 4 speed
