Jive-Bomber submitted a new blog post: The Lost Classic Cars of the L.A. Fires... Continue reading the Original Blog Post
In the Fire In LA thread, https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/fire-in-la-area.1329247 @F&J posted a video by effspot who is a car spotter in LA. He found this same sad collection. We haven't heard all of the stories, the human cost is going to be huge. Homes a century old, cars and all the other personal effects of thousands are gone.
100% absolutely devastating. Having lived in L.A. it really gives a kick in the gut to see it all and it's not over yet! It seems that it's heading to West L.A. where I used to work maintenance for a property management company but hopefully they can get it under control by then. We had friends all over the southland and the ex brother in law used to live in Altadena with a back yard that backed up to Angeles Crest Forest that burned some when he lived there. The shock of seeing a car dealership and all of there cars was also mind blowing. I pray nightly for all those who have lost their homes, their cars, their place of employment, or even those who have lost their businesses. Hopefully the heroes working these fires get it under control soon, Amen.
Tomorrow, I'm gonna be selling a pretty neat print... Given the scale of the fires, it's almost a certainty that one of our own has lost everything. The proceeds from this sell will go to the first HAMBER we find that has suffered. So, keep your ears to the ground and let me know if you hear of anything.
if you are watching a video of the destruction that has street names I recommend getting on Google maps and seeing what these neighborhoods looked like before. this guys house was modest for the area, most of his cars were outside.
With the fire in Pasadena I'd imagine that there were a number of rodders who may have lost their homes, cars and place of work.
Just a heads up...I just read an article on my old hometown Chicago Tribune showing a '77 V-dub bus that survived the fire. I know it's not the age of the H.A.M.B rules but I thought it astounding that the photo of it sitting curbside in a burned out neighborhood was amazing! Don't know if you can or able to post a link or something?
