Finally got a chance to work on the truck this week. I got the engine moved back 4"(no pictures yet) and got the rear frame rails cut off and one of the new ones made. I also got the cab mounted and the steering column loosely installed.

I've driven several RHD vehicles when I was an intern mechanic at a local Dodge dealership...couldn't figure out why people didn't like driving them? It took a bit of getting used to, but wasn't bad...

    except at drive-thru windows...

    ...and police roadblocks.

The project is coming along nicely :D

    Good Job

  15. I think that head stamp on there is from a 305. 327's are great engines though.
Tough as nails just like a 283.

  16. Casting #3782870 crosses over to '62-'65 327 with 250-375 horses. The head marking is the good old "power pack", which would possibly be the originals, but would make it the lower horse version, as anything else would have camel humps.

Thanks for the compliments and the engine info. I got some more work done this weekend. The steering mount/frame rail is tacked in place, got the grill and right front fender lined up and I found a seat at the junk yard out of a mid 80's Ford Ranger.

Hey C4 very cool build, Im interested in the frame mod's at the steering box, Im pretty sure that's for radiator clearence, are you going to lengthen the drag length?

Thanks! The steering box is out of a late 80's Toyota truck. In going right hand drive I had a choice of 2 boxes. This one or a Chevy C10. The C10 is about 2" longer and space was a problem. I cut the frame completely of forward of the cross member so I could get the steering box to clear the upper control arm and the exhaust manifold. I will use a 64-66 V8 Mustang radiator or an after market 4 core I found that is 13.5 tall and 21" wide. It will fit perfect above the steering box. It came off of a 4X4 with a small block Ford. I will use a GM metric ch***is center link which is a bit longer than the S10.

Oh so that VW is yours? Someone I know is building a Bonneville racer out of a Bug, and he had some pics of that thing on his blog once as inspiration. That thing is sick!
