The low down on pic hosting...

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by BARNETT, Aug 27, 2003.

  1. I know there is at least 2 threads dealing with this subject, but I still haven't seen anyone reveal the dark, mystical secrets. I have a StarPhoto site...what is the procedure for getting the pic from StarPhoto to my avatar (sp?) ?

Open the pic in StarPhoto, right click and select "properties".Highlight and copy the address(URL).Then go to "my home" on the HAMB,it's near the top of the page.Beside "personal information..." select "edit".Then paste the URL for the pic in the box" that says:URL to your picture".Then click on the "submit" button at the bottom of the page. Now click your heels three times, and say "There is no place like home. There is no place like home." first you need the photo to be 80 x 80 pixels... then it needs to be 1kb in size... put it on your webpage in the images folder and then under your personal settings for HAMB put in the URL to the picture... your avatar should come up... need help editing picture pm me and give me the url of the pic you want edited...

[/ QUOTE ] If it's hosted elsewhere, the size doesn't matter. They end up being 80x80 by default.I've had a GIF avatar that was over 35K,no problem.Monkey's current avatar is over 19K [IMG] [IMG]

It helps if you don't have a life. [IMG]

  10. Well, Unkl Ian, I'm slowly loosing my grip on my life. I have a stupid avatar now! I'm not real sure how I did it, though. I couldn't get the starphoto thing to happen. The main problem is that I have an imac and there is no "right click" on the mouse so I can't figure out how to get to the "properties" part of your helpful hints for morons. I'm not positive how I got this pic to post, but I think I'll leave well enough alone for the moment. Thanks for trying to help me. [IMG]
