Thanks for the kind words guys...

I built this car in about two years and it was pretty fun, but teh last 6 months have been nothing but final metal finishing, sanding, painting and buffing.

I am so fucking tired of bodywork...every time I look at that car, my arms start to ache. Now I understand why guys build little small cars like T-buckets...LOTS less bodywork..

I have my Model A which will stay with me forever and a shitty old 64 Ford truck for hauling stuff and I just don't have room for anything else. So yes, the Merc will probably find another home.

    See ya, -Abone.

i hear you about the sanding and bodywork,,,,
it does get old,,,,glad you took the time to do it right,,i wouldnt expect anything else from you,,,
as far as selling it,,i understand that too,,,,
it seems like every time i sell a car,,a bunch of people (mostly the same people every time) act like i owe them an "explaination" on why i sold it.....

basically, its your business if you do decide to sell it,,whatever the reason...

i hope i get the chance to see it in person before you do sell it...
and i'm confident whatever you build next will kick ass too......

My opinion, though it doesn't matter towards your decision: Bringing that Merc back from the dead and making it as perfect as it is, is/was not an easy task. IMO you will never recoup the hours you have in doing so; that in itself defines a keeper, or a bad investment.

On the other hand, I'd love to se it come closer to me so I could have the chance to see it in person. It is a masterpiece.

I am already jealous of the future owner.

That car is beautiful. What's the asking price on it?

<---- I'm next door to the left a bit.

Abone, bring it to the HAMB drags, hand me the keys, and I'll take good care of it. Scouts honor. :D

FlamedAbone is not kidding about letting this one go. Over the years I have come to realize he puts a ton of sweat and life into his rides but does not get attached. His A is his first love and when the day comes he sells that one I will be shocked (and the first in line to buy it)...

Abone, I live in Charleston and drove a '51 when I was in high school. I want to see your car in person... bring it out to a Bessinger's show or somethin' when you get it wrapped up will you?

Tell you what, if you're gonna have to sell it, at least sell it to someone nearby. <-- Me!

    Hey Abone-

I'm a teacher and I can't believe how much more competitive it has gotten over the last 15 years to get into a "good" college. You can't imagine the price tag on a big 4 year school=$100,000.00+. By the time your boy is 18, who knows? Make a deal with your son... good grades through graduation and he gets the keys! *There's a catch, only if he gets a scholarship for those grades (straight A's, 4.00+).* Look at it this way, that gorgeous Merc just saved you thousands.

My dad's was very similar, he drove it his senior year in high school back in '55. If I find a picture, I'll send a copy in an email to you. Very slick Merc, most beautiful one that I've ever had the pleasure! Take that fatigued arm of yours and give yourself a well deserved pat on the back! Top notch!!!

That is one beautiful car even before it is completely finished.

If it has to go I hope it goes to a good and appreciative home.

I like it A LOT! Clean and simple in design, very classic and true to the rootes of kustoms. Yet some unique details like the tail lights and the little thing in the center of the grille. For wheel covers I think the -53 Cadillac covers looks best. A pity to sell it, but I understand you.
Still I would have like to see it completely finished by you before selling it. With an interior with the same class and style... I would hate to see it messed up by someone without the right feeling and knowledge classic custom design....

It's absolutely beautiful, and had the perfect chop and stance. I will be looking out for this one when it goes up for sale, and from there I will sell my wife, kids and home to own it. Great Job!
