Thank you sooo much for sharing, it was a true thanksgiving treat ! I have seen yards here in the east get court ordered, no parts allowed to be sold, and everything dissappears later. Probably to scrap. such a shame. I am glad that Jack and his sons are still fighting the good fight. Thanks again for posting. Goldy

Ron - Sorry if I came across as a dick, but the yard info was 10 posts above your original post.

Also, when I put all these pictures out here, I was, in no way, trying to advertise for this yard.
I was blown away by how many cars were still there, took a bunch of photos and decided to share them with everyone.

Guys, I have absolutely ZERO connection with the owners of this yard. You know how to get ahold of them.

Also, for those commenting about keeping quiet or to yourself about this yard... Well, that's fine. I have no problem showing people what's still out there.

As has already been stated, there's a reason so many of these cars and parts are still there. Some of it is priced kind of high. If someone sees these photos, and is able to pick up that hard-to-find part that they've been looking for, good for them.

I'm glad you all enjoyed the photos - I really did feel like I was in heaven while walking through there!

  6. HA!!! You started a firestorm Nick. :-D Thanks for taking the great pics!

It was a pretty incredible afternoon. It's not just old cars either. I saw everything from an old surry hanging from the rafters to Cushman scooter parts.

Not everything was priced out of this world. I bought a windshield out of an old Cornet for my Plymouth Suburban. Pretty nice shape for $150. I'm still waiting to hear if they got it out yet. One of the sons who was manning the desk that afternoon wasn't sure when they'd get it out.

That has to be one of the last great yards. They don't get much better than that in my book. Thanks for the pics.

  9. Hey Nick, after looking at your pics I realized I told the guy to pull the windshield from the wrong car. I called them back yesterday, told them which car I really wanted it from and was told that was a complete car and I couldn't have that windshield. They said they'd find me a good one. :-/ We'll see what happens.

I had a distant aunt that that never threw away a newspaper or anything she received in the mail. By the time she was in her 80’s her house and several storage sheds were floor to ceiling paper, with only a small trail to snake through, room to room. However we all though she was off her rocker. Harmless but nuts!

I wonder what this guy’s family thinks of his “collection” that he never sells? It looks like a great deal of his treasures are quickly slipping into trash.;)<O:p</O:p

If you go in the summer coat yourself with Deep woods off. The deer ticks are everywhere.

My dad used to tell me stories about that place. He passed through in the late sixties before I was born. You can't forget a place like that. All the Strombergs I found were cracked, but I walked out with a perfect set of B-L-C 682Js and some other cool stuff. Shipping to NC was higher than the parts were.

I came real close to asking the Department of the Army to re-assign me to Ft. Riley.

Jack was really helpful and said that if I called with what I wanted he'd ship it.

  14. Oh man! How much does he want for that pile of JC Penny catalogs?? And what's the name of the place?.................... Just kiddin, thanks for posting :)

Thanks for posting pics! Great tour. I'm sure the reason he still owns that stuff was having it overpriced.

My thoughts are, that this was the typical junkyard mentality of the 20th Century. pre-computer, un-educated, un-inventoried, low scrap prices.

If I inherited that place by accident, I would mark it off in sections on a map, grade each section, and then bring in the jaws of death and a car shredder.

The sections marked-off as historical or valuable would be inventoried and sold-off on eBay or through the network.

Then I'd take the top 2 feet of soil and mix it with red cedar chips and set it aside for 10 years.

It would be gone in just a short while.

I hate buying stuff from a guy who's nick-name is "easy" because I know it will involve sheep and an Arab headress...

You could buy a Brookville and still have money in your pocket, and tell everyone you have "real steel," or you can go to his place and tell everyone you have "real Henry Ford steel," or you can buy a fiberglass body, engine, and frame.

All for the same price! :p

He probably made his first fortune selling titles and vin tags...

What "Poverty Flats" said......market price then double it. Neat place, but it will be a heck of an auction in the future.

I am surprised you did not ask about the "Model A shell" with the insert and hood welded to it.
