With a recent back surgery and the uncertainty of all that goes along with that I decided to sell the model A coupe but was able to use some of the money and purchase another car. I've been wanting to do a 40's car for awhile so inspired by the post Ryan did awhile back about of the 80's built cars out there I started looking for a good canidate. I found this 41 that some one built in the mid 80's from the looks of it and was able to buy it pretty cheap. Typical 350/350 rear steer clipped 80's built street rod. The good thing is the person that built it started with a very solid car and there is still no rust to be found in this car and luckly they left the trim and bumpers and forgot to add the day glo or pastel paint! The interior is very nice which is a first for me!! HAHA Right now the plan is ridding it of it's 80's gayness and slowly morphing it into an early style custom. Just got it up and running, swapped tires and wheels ,buffed on some of the old paint and lowered it. Trying to get it ready for the Stray Kat 500.

    Bringing it home.

I think Ikari makes the 41 Grille Trim set. That stuff has been gold forever.

I'm thinking your 80s street rod was really a Tijuana Taxi judging by those teeny wheels and wire basket hubcaps.

Thanks for the compliments everybody! Yeah I looked at the new grille molding and it's funny that you can buy a new grill for $800 and the trim is $1600!!!!! I'll keep looking for used.

Wow, what a difference wheels, tires and a lowering job can make. Night and day difference. Great looking car.

I'm gonna start doing some custom bodywork stuff as I go along while painting it a oxblood suede until all the bodywork is done then it'll get a shiny deep red maroon color.

    Morning Jamie,

I hope the back is healing up ok. I had friends go through back surgery and it
wasn't fun. Oneof them is back running in his T bucket so he is doing fine it just
    takes some time.

When you told me at the Texas Thaw what you were up to, I was hoping for some
Pastel paint. VERY KOOL!! I had the chance to buy a 41 Chevy business coupe years
ago and the guy would not sell it too me. It was 100% restored and very nice. He had
problems selling it and I kept at him to sell it to me. He ended up losing his **** and sold
it for $4,500. What I had planned to do is exactly what your up to. Sounds like your
going to have a kool kruizer that will go down the highway in style.

I hate to tell ya this but I'm in the process of restoring a '53 Buick steering wheel for
the Merc. It is one of the koolest wheels out there. Your wheel looks like it is in better
condition them mine. I may have to trade ya when your in Dewey.....Ha, ha,ha

Years ago....early mid 90's there was a '41 Chevy business coupe converted to a rag top
with a modified stock grill. He modified a stock grill by shortened the ends of the grill. The
Chevy was a bright pearl green with a white carson top. Love the grill idea simple yet it
was enough to throw you off. I'll try to find some pictures or maybe some on here will post
some pics. I photo shop'd one.

Keep us updated with the progress and see ya in a couple of weeks

    Happy Trails,

    Mick
