We are gonna let it sit for a day or two and then start in on making some changes based on suggestions from you guys. Here is the list that we are working from at the present: Add "View All" link to the threads Make "Sticky" posts more obvious by making the "Sticky" text bold and maroon. Make the user column in threads narrower allowing more room for the content and thus requiring less scrolling. Fix the number of thread views... Currently it is just repeating the number of replies. The PM screen has a broken table making the actuall PM message show on the very bottom of the screen - under the left hand nav. See about Mac browser compatability Add another level of nav on the thread screen so that people can chose to include quotes in their reply or not... Fix server clock once and for all! Some minor color changes. The dark red on the WYSIWYG editor interface looks terrible. See about adding an animated GIF to the PM interface so that it will be more obvious to people they have a PM (Hey, you guys do know you can make a window pop up when you do have a pm, right? Set that up in your options in User CP. This Color = added after getting more feedback
The only issue I see immediately on this OSX G5 Mac is that your main table width is expanded wider than your footer cap. And that is in Safari. Netscape and Firefox looks good. I can't see it in IE but that's is because the network guys fouled the proxy here.
Would it be too much trouble to make the text of posts black instead of gray? Maybe I just need to get glasses... Brian
Actually... I took these colors, fonts, and font sizes straight from a test that the University of Stanford did. Basically, that test said that this was the optimum setup for long periods of reading... Give it a week. If you still have problems, we will go darker with the text...
Thanks for all the hours you put in, The new look has already grown on me. It's just a matter of getting use to it all. Although the new "THE HAMB" logo looks like a it's for a superhero I think I liked the old one better.
My only 2cents worth is that it would be nice to make FS/FT/WTB a required part of posting a Classified ad. Maybe even checking a person's registration date, too, if that's possible. Seems like doing it automatically would save the moderators some aggravation and generally make Classified life better. Not to sound unappreciative of the HAMB, but as long as you're putting a list together I thought I'd throw these in the mix. Thanks for the new HAMB!!
One thing I've noticed, at least on my end, is that it shows new posts when I first log on, but when they get replied to while I'm signed on( after I've read them), they don't turn bold again...
not a fukin clue what any of that means but it sounds real good....can we get the blinking pm sign back??
One thing that I would do on the old HAMB that was a bit tedious, maybe you could address here. If you want to search for posts by a certain HAMBer but don't recall his full HAMB name ie, uh that Dreambeaver or Dramweaver guy, whatever, I know his name started with a Dr. It's a pain to go to the Members list, choose "D" and then guess what page the "Dr..." is on. Any way to make a search box so that when you type the "D" it gives you all the "D" names then the "r" portion gives you the "Dr" names? Kind of like a Open or Save box does it in Windows? Does that make sense?
Ryan, Here is a couple things I noticed... was the old "who's online" using too much space as it was ? or is there something that can be done [like that ]instead of the way it is now? Also, what am I doing that makes every post ,include the previous guys [as a QUOTE]? I DO Like the display-the look and new features a plenty!! THANKS!
Sounds like Ryan's got all my issues covered! Interesting call on the Mac browser stuff. I'm using Camino on a Mac, and I haven't had the issues mentioned... but I cheked it in Safari on the G4 PowerBook, and the footer issues are definitely there.
How about more emoticons to choose from. And the ability for us to choose the title under our nick. If I'm going to be a SENIOR member I should at least get a discount card at So Cal.
Yeah I'm a little mystified about it. Normally mozilla based browsers share issue lists yet this one isn't shared in mac versions of the other mozilla based browsers. The others should break too.
Is there any way to make it possible to print off copies of text and/or pics from a separate post rather than printing a whole thread? I could it on the old HAMB but I don't see anything on the new one that would do this. This function would be very much appreciated as I print off a lot of stuff. Max
Stanford? Is that why everything is cardinal red? I agree that the grey text makes everything look a little washed out. Maybe it's just a matter of adjusting like when I switched from briefs to boxers and then to velcro thongs.
Ryan, i dont mean to be a turd, but on old HAMB when you click on a post that you have read before, it took you right down to the first new post you havent seen yet without even scrolling. That was cool. New HAMB is bitchin. Nick
Nick, and everyone else with this problem....If you click on the little black arrow (or chevron) to the left of the post title, it does what you are asking about.
I actually preferred the red text that the old HAMB used for threads containing new posts since I last visited. It was very easy to distinguish the difference. I think it would look cool with the new HAMB color scheme also. My 2 cents... Chris
At the bottom of the main discussion page there are linked numbers to flip to page 2, page 3 and last page. Could you change that from Last page to Next page, or, make those numbers larger so us old guys can hit them.
Ryan, What I have here is more of a question than a suggestion. While cruising through my user control panel, I came upon a link to view all of my old attachments. Neat. How do I link to them again, so I don't have to upload a seperate copy for each thread? Somehow that naked picture of Tokyo seems relevant to most threads. Ed
I like it, but we're missing the "All" pages option. I like to look at the whole thread all at once and not click separately on all of its pages. Can we get that feature back? Thanks! --Matt
