I found this car in a 1961 Hot Rod Magazine yearbook that a friend of mine picked up at a rummage sale for $4. I am looking for more info on it, as I am now totally obsessed with it. I'd like to see some pictures of it's inner workings. In my possession now is a 1958 Chassis Research frame and some other bits, including a blown 364 Nailhead that would make an awesome start to a semi-clone of this car.

Such a RAD car, and it would make a great companion to the Strange Bird!

  6. A couple of people you might contact for more info on the car:
Jack Brady(Church Key here on the HAMB)
Paul Aldrich of the Ty-Rods club
Billy Belmont of Belmont Speed & Cusom in Massachusetts.
Sorry I don't have contact info on the last two but Jack should.

I remember that car very well and believe the pictures were taken at Sanford Maine

I remember seeing this car run at Sanford ME and Charlestown RI. I remember it as all yellow with green flames, but it looked different in that color photo, so I may be wrong. I also seem to remember seeing it sitting in a gas station in Belmont MA once.

There is an excellent book about that era in New England Hot Rodding called "Cool Cars Square Roll Bars" by Arnie and Bernie Shuman. They state the car was run by Joe and Paul McGonagle and Johnny Camponella and driven by Bill Peterson.

I was under the impression at the time, it was sort of a car club effort, low budget, as evidenced by the air scoop which I think was a thick cardboard box.

Sort of reminds me of a tamer version of the Frank Pedregon car...
