    Howdy folks.

Were there any options for under hood lighting for our trucks?

Factory accessory options or what not?

I read that there is an factory accessory option for the Chevy cars of the same time frame, but it was not standard.

What have any of you come across?

    Thanks for any information.

LMC has a hood light that wires in to 12v...and has an internal switch that is "gravity" activated. When you open the hood, it automatically switches on, when you close the hood...it turns off. Pretty cheap too? $25.00 bucks.

    Got a catty right here...part number 36-4502

    Now go get Lit!!

Payaso - thanks for that... that was one of the first catalogs I checked out, and missed it somehow.

I swiped it on another forum from Dog427/425, posted it here a few years ago, and Lowkat must have re-posted it. I think it was originally a dealer postcard--promotional item--or perhaps a photo from a GM or Chevy company magazine. The creases appear to show that it was a postcard on thicker poscard stock.

For an underhood light, check out 88 and up chevy trucks. They have a light with a magnet on it and it has enough cord to reach all four tires and a little hand crank winder to reel the cord back in. Simple 12v hookup

Heres my '66 C10 stepside. Dragged out form under a tree for $300. My son and I are getting it on the road for him to drive when he gets his license, still a ways to go but he's got a year till he's 16 so I think we will get her rolling in time. We rebuilt the 250 inline 6, added cast headers and a dual Offenhauser manifold. Painted the engine bay, rebuilt the brakes, new wheel bearings and we're in the middle of cutting out the rust and putting new sheet metal in the cab. Gonna completely rewire it with an EZ wire harness, the "stock" wiring was really messed up. Thinking maybe green Hot Rod Flatz with white Tommy the Greek style scallops when we finally get that far.....Anyway, here she is.

Trimmed the sides a bit. Which cut down on the wind tunnel noise. The ambient temp was 99 degrees yesterday and the truck ran hottest at 190.

ErikDaViking - nice truck! It's cool that yer keeping the six.

SOCAL PETE - thanks for the extra shot. I understand about the heat, it's been brutal here in Georgia as well.

Yeah, I dig the inline 6's. Plus they are a little less common than the V8s, I like being a little different. Got teh link you PMd, thanks, cool site.

Yeah i know about that. That is another reason why I left the south..heat combined with humidity. Out here 40% with 100 degrees is brutal but back there 85% and 90 is to much to handle.

My South Salem High School (Oregon) ride 1969 to 1971. 283, four barrel, three-on-the-tree, 3:90 limited-slip gears, bench seat from '64 Wildcat, custom varnished wood in bed, Appliance chromies, 36" glasspaks with great tone.

I had the only hotrod truck in school then. Sold to buy nice '50 Pontiac fastback.

Now I want it back sooo bad!

Possible but I have one of the only 60's in my town or area. There are a tons of 62 -65's in my town. Saw a 60 the other day tucked up under a tree out in the valley.

Thanks Pete for the heads up. I just got laid off, so a visit to SoCal is not affordable.
While I have the time, I have started to search for a project '60-'61 shortie. The less rust out, the better since I am not yet a welder. I can beat panels and prep no problem.

Thanks in advance for any leads.

I'll check out the sb 60 when it cools down. I am pretty sure it could be had. The guys has a 55 ford coupe I was looking at also.
