Having returned to college and re-discovering how much of your time Finals*****s up, I've been wondering how many HAMB'ers are fellow college students that, like me, in a class thinking of the pressing to-do's on their project and/or daily driver. Hell, I'm only taking 2 classes, both meet once a week, and yet they manage to squeeze out my spare time for the '57 Effie. But, returning after nearly 5 years, it's a good way to get used to hittin' the books, again. Duuude, Purple- watcha doing for yer Final in Welding? Collegiate HAMB'ers, chime in and be counted. Remember to carry the twelve... If I can get the '57 back on the road by the last weekend of English class - where we meet at the Prof's house for brunch -, that would just be the coolest.
Did 4 years at Humboldt and 2 at CR. Didn't build a single car for six years. Between chasing girls drinking beer smoking dope working full time oh and going to class. I never had time for a project. Let me tell you though I'm making up for it now Good luck Tiny
Not at college yet, but i just finished high school in March and start at UT arlington in August. Will be doing Formula SAE I can't wait to start.
i was in the same boat as tiny, 6 yrs of being a profressional student... only difference, i was drinking lots of beer (lost 30pnds on my beer diet), playing vid games, and plugging away on my animated short. i also goofed off a lot... never was good at academia, but managed to catch drag races, didnt care for car shows, seeing cars run was more interesting.
Next year will be my Jr. year at UNT...assuming I passed everything this semester. I know what you mean about being in class thinking about your car instead of taking notes. At least you have something to go home and work on! Here's an example of not paying attention: Everything around this is notes from Econ 1100!!!
Yep, next week will be the end of my fourth year at Southeast Mo State U and I still gotta another semester to go till I can graduate. THen it's some off time till the next fall and then possibly do the grad school thing...nother 3 years or so...? egh... Yep, absolutely no time to do anything with cars. I'm a Fine Arts major and all my time and $$$ goes into my projects...which*****s cuz I tend to build huge projects that take up a ton of time and moolah. Oh well, one day I'll be outta school and start a real life...(well except for that part about being a poor, jobless artist....ha!)
I have not been out of college that long - at least I didn't think so. I had far more time to drink beer and build cars. Now I am married, kids, house, and all the other things that go along with being an adult. I keep gathering hoping to build again someday soon. The kids are becoming a little more independent. Maybe they will show interest so it is easier to do. Real life starts way before you can imagine.
I quit art school after a year when they wouldn't allow me to work on the car in the school shop. shitbirds.
Yep, during my first year, the art department was already pushing the "no cutesy or car stuff" agenda on all of us.....only "good, fine art"...yadda yadda yadda....deal with society...blah blah blah. Although my stuff has nothing to do with cars, I've always thought that was pretty dumb. Whatever. I'm close to gettin out.
K&R. Nothing to do with this topic, but that Mod you drew is******in'! Very nice proportions and details. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. Neal
I built this as my Sculpture Thesis project for my Master of Fine Arts degree in '93. Some times there's a way to combine the rod with the "Education" (piece of paper insinuating you might have an education actually) What you see was done in 6 weeks.
cool Doc. with a set of tall skinnies and a number 7 on the door that would look right at home on the boards.
I'm a sophomore at the university here studying computer science. I'm a geek and always will be. I'm here after getting an expensive art degree and deciding that I never want to be an artist. I still find time to work on my car though. I have the worlds greatest group of friends who have been helping me learn how to do bodywork at nights after class. They are good about pushing me to keep going on it, even during finals week! ha ha
One more year and an internship to go and I'm done! I literally make time to work on my car since most of my homework is projects because I'm an apparel design student and I'm an active member in the apparel society and auto club. I enjoy finals week only because I get time to sleep and work on the car more since I'm not sitting in all those lab classes.
Chemistry major, sophmore, going to transfer to St. Mary's University here in Ol' S.A.. Can't wait, I have fun in school, there are so many girls it's no joke and when they see a ol car, stand back, they start talking about their dad's this and that, how he loves this, and next thing ya know, "well here's my number, call me." And if you have any classes that require labs, forget about it, girls galore. There are so many women in science, it's a joke, they out number the guys! I say if ya get a chance take a phsychology class and you'll see what i'm talkin' about... I usually squeze in some time for the ride!!! Good Luck on the finals, I just finished mine..
I decided to try and finish up what I started in 1984, the last time I took a class was 1987. I took an online Humanities East/West class this semester, just finished up, got an "A". With homework, quizzes and tests, it took up 5-6 hours a week. Final exam took an extra 5 hours to study for.
Hey chucklehead, go **** yourself! No offense meant by that, I just go to a school that is the exact opposite of yours. I've had classes with 30 guys in it and no girls, and that's considered normal. Anyways, I got 8 more classes then I take the walk and get in line at the FAA. What I find really hard is living 150 miles from your project, going to school and working full time, and somehow finding time to go across the state (daytona to tampa) to work on the project. Thankfully I got the summer off from school and my job is a joke, so I can go home whenever I get parts to install.
Full time graduate student, working on MS in mathematics. My things-to-fix list seems to be continually growing on all three cars, not to mention the other (house) stuff..... My students are getting ready for finals now, then there will be a few days to take a break.......

Did four years at school in Wyoming, NOT WYOTECH, but the University of Wyoming while I recieved a BS in Architectural/Mechanical Engineering! Ahh nothing like doing 132 credit hours in 4 years, my**** still hurts from it. Lurked on the HAMB while at school, but never had time to fully get into it. Geno Go Pokes!!

I'm a full time student at Virginia Commonwealth University, but ALL I do in class is think about cars . . . I wish I had a scanner so I could post my political science notes from this semester on here, nothing but scetches of lakes racers and flatheads
