From what I remember when I was working on the brakes after I got it, my 79 Grenade's spindles are held via 2 balljoints and the tie rod. No strut rods or nothin. Been a while, I haven't looked under that car in over 2 years.

No struts. Granadas use a shock tower in the body much like early Mustangs, Falcons, Torinos, Fairlanes, etc. The spindle is mounted with ball joints to the control arms. The shock is inside of the spring, and the spring goes up into that shock tower in the body.

No different from removing a spindle from a typical 60s Mustang, really.

  6. disc brakes? what? hahahaha! seems that thing stopped plenty well enough last time i drove it.

  7. i talked to someone with a mustang.he said to take the3 shock tower bolts loose on top.then the the spring bracket that holds the spring to the upper control arm and it should just push out of the way.then go about your business of taking the spindles off.sound right?

Granadas went to struts in 1981. pre 1981 is what you want. I put them on my Ranchero.
