    Hey Mark,
Chris here. Probably didn't realize I'm a member 'eh?
    That's my Bat.
Mine is a replica. GB still owns the original. He was at Woodward this past weekend when I was there and I have photos of him with my car so it was a rare photo opp' for me. Everyone bugged the shit out of him to sign this or that. I probably should have asked him to sign my car, but I didn't.
For the record, Mark was a class act who knew his shit about trucks and alot of his intel on Batmobile history (most people don't know squat).
When I say class act, Mark was all about getting me on my way for the Woodward gig and waived his commission. Since he posted the photos, I don't have to since they tell the story.
I enjoyed the unexpected visit and everyone at the shop was great.
They were slower than snail shit so that's why he was able to get me back on the road inside of about an hour.
Kinda cool that a last minute breakdown in MI finds a truck tech that is from my old stomping grounds......
Anyway, thanks again Mark for the quick informed repair to get me back on the road. Check out the 1966Batmobile Message Board for other great pics.
BTW, who was the kid working there spouting off about "I heard they found the original Batmobile rusting away in a farmer's field and worked on it real quick like to try to get it back in shape"??
    That was a riot.
You didn't kick my ass, you SERVED it. That didnt' sound right did it? LOL
    Thanks again~

I| remember being at a car show here in Wales many moons ago, and the star of the show was supposedly the original Batmobile. I was talking to the owner / concession operator who assured me his was the read deal, fine I said but it must be a copy as I had seen the " original" only a couple of days earlier in the US at a famous museum (Peterson?) so one of them or both must be copies. I was told in a hushed voice by the owner that his was a spare car built by Barris so it was a genuine " Batmobile" built incase the original was damaged during filming? He seemed rather surprised that anyone would have known about the other cars and wanted to keep it quiet. not that it bothered the crowd of children all waiting for their turn to play Batman one bit. I was told off by my then GF for being a smartarse. oh well, I thought genuine meant the genuine original. We live and learn.

It's a repo ,I believe that one was built by Unique Movie Cars and Props
    in British Columbia Canada.
They call it the ACR or anti-crime roadster .They also sell them in kit form
    or turn key.
They're friggin cool, I'd love to own one.

There's a Batmobile web-site where I read about a guy that built a clone. While showing the car, someone called Barris, who came down and seized the car. Apparently it was too much of a clone.

We have a guy around here that has a replica. Its pretty bad up close.

The web-site explains that the fuzzy car was to coverup the imperfections in the glass body.

When I work on the TV show the car had about an 8" chrome wheels on it and
little red plastic barrel like knobs on the dash. And it could be driven from a hidden
    place.

Let me dispell a few myths since there's ALOT of mystery about the original Batmobile and replicas in general.
Barris still owns the original. Never been truly restored and the "original patina" is reportely what makes it valuable, but for most of us who dig the car we hate to see it looking in such delapidated condition and feel it should be restored to a very high standard while Mr. Barris is still alive to assist & advise etc. True Bat-lovers feel this car should be in the Smithsonian.
"Bat fuzz"---------In the black/white TV day's, the car is beleived to have been flocked so the camera would not reflect in the car when it passed. When the timing of Technicolor came around, something about the reflective properties changed, so the car was properly painted; Also the timing of the Mod Day-glo colors of the 70's was such so they painted the stripes bright orange (not red).
Replicas: GB is credited with 5 Batmobiles bearing his name. All the others are some variation of a Futura or Batmobile replica of which maybe 50 or so around the country may exist.
Mr. Barris bought this car for $1.00 after the run of the show and he owns the car and the rights to any Batmobile image. Warner Bros. & DC Comics own the rights to all things "Batman" etc. When you hear that GB has sued, it's probably because someone tried to capitalize on his business venture over the image. I have a high end replica and have been warned if I stray to close to that line. I'm a lover of cars so I display it often, but at times people who love the car AS much post it here or there which is mostly out of my control. I have no desire to compete with GB or Warner Bros./DC Comics. I'm just an old car lover that bought a glorified kit car and made it as nice as I could.
YOU too can have a high-end replica--------everything from a turnkey ($100K+/-) to a body kit for about $6500.00+/-.
Most of the current builds have technology on their side so they tend to have alot of working bad gadgetry.
Yesterday (Tues.) I did a great photo shoot in Cincinnati with Chad Ochocinco & Terell Owens who are the "Dynamic Duo" for the Bengals football team. GREAT Fun! That will air sometime early in Sept.
Here's a website that will tell you everything you'd ever want to know about the 1966 Batmobile: http://www.1966batmobile.com/

    Enjoy!
Mark, keep an eye peeled for a photo in the mail headed your way to T/A.

looks like the one My uncle and I test drove at a swapmeet in gatsden AL about 15 years ago.....guy offered it for sale for $30,000.00 and my uncle (who is a batman freak) was seriously considering buying it.....but they could not come to terms on the price

  25. As much a fan as I am of Batman,I think it would be cooler to do a Futura replica!

  26. ive talked to the guy in cincy about his batmobile, unless there is more then one in cincy the guy i talked to said that he had wrecked his (he actually said totalled it)and had to find another body to fix it so if that is the one from cincy that i know about i doubt its the real deal but who knows

there is a guy in fairfield ohio inbetween where i am and cincy that has a replica of the stock futura supposedly its the nicest most correct one around its in his "private" collection the only reason i know about is the local paper did a story about him and it had a pic of the guy and his son sitting in the futura

his car was a dusty rosey red color , i allways thought the original was seafoam green

i see the guy fron cincy posted on here i hope you didnt let ochoSTINKO sit in your bat

Yeah, a guy from VIrginia, the one who built the copy of the Pontiac future car, Club-de-Mer, I believe did one. I think someone even posted a pic of it here on the HAMB.

That car is NOT the original Futura. It is a copy.

I think it was one of the nicest cars Barris ever built, cheesy Hollywood switches excepted.
