He was also a fucking fraud,he never had anything to do with the design of the 240 Z,hes the only one who said he did.It was entirely the work of Nissan Datsun engineers who spent several years analysing the tastes of enthusiasts in terms of style and engineering .The result being the svelte 240Z ,which unfortunately morphed into a fat blob. It's being revealed recently that he also had very little to do with the BMW also.
Back in the late 50s this was painted gold and for sale in upstate NY for 7500.00. I was talking to my dad the other day and he was saying that he should write a book about how every great car was available in the 1950s for 7500.00 (and he passed on all of them). The Mormon Meteor and the one of the Packard LeBaron Phaetons being examples of two others. but there was more.
As luck would have it, I recently purchased the wing struts that were on Herb Shriner's PBY, and am to build a car or two with them. In the planning stages right now.
Here's Herb Shriner's PBY. Not sure of the date of the photo, but I heard it was painted with the flags of all the countries he and his family visited. Sadly, the plane's parts are strewn across the world now; the fuselage is in Arizona, the wings are in Australia, and the struts are in my storage.
Yeah, the Phantom would stop as much traffic in 2010 as it did in the 1930's. And would dominate any show now.
