I really dig the way you did those scallops. Very nice.

I think a set of hub caps with trim rings, or full wheel covers would the finishing touch, but it looks good.

    Got any "before" pics?

    thanks for the compliments!

I am holding off doing anything else to the wheels for now...I still have the skirts to put on. I have to work on them a little so that the tires do not rub when taking corners though.

Man that turned out pretty sweet!
I love looking at all of the pictures of your build-up.
Hopefully my 52' will look at least that cool.

  11. From now on, those scallops are what I'm going to think of when someone mentions, simple, tasteful graphics.

It is a DuPont industrial strength semi gloss black...
I hear that John Deer has a neat semi gloss black too though.

the scallops were originally photoshopped on by 4t64rd from the HAMB...as soon as I saw them I knew they had to go on!

The funny thing is the photo had the scallops coming off the rear taillights but the guy doing the paint could not tell so he just added his own touch and before the gray was on I was not sure I would like the back...but after the gray went on I like it a lot!

I forgot my profile says Bakersfield...ooops...I am a Taft boy...have lived in Bakersfield quite a few times and work in Bakersfield too. Long boring story of why I am in Taft...want to see why....http://lotusnlaney.com/gallery/house (restoring a 1940's house with my future wife).

I am hoping to drive my car out to the march meets..a few years later then I originally planned but it is worth the wait!!!

At the house we found a little pedal car and Mitch (three year old) wants it painted to match my car...once we are moved in I am going to do it.

  25. I love the car, but the paint is average. It looks like it is lost between Glossy Black and Satin Black, almost a milky look as if it where shot in not so good paint conditions. Maybe it is just the pictures, not ragging you but just giving my honest opinion from a web picture view. However like i said the car looks fucking killer anyways. Is it just the picture or did the black not turn out right?

the paint is weird...it was supposed to be a satin black but came out more of a semi-gloss...the guy that painted it wanted to do it again but I would not let him. I dug the look of it and wanted it to stay that way.

more then a few people have said/asked what is up with that color? what color are you going to finish it in?

and it has a 10 foot paint job on it too...meaning when you get closer you see more blemishes...a couple runs...a few fish eyes...no biggie though. it is a driver and not a show car.

    honest opinions are welcome!

Personally I wouldn't think of changing the amount of gloss. Looks great to me!
The "Speed spears" really make the car IMHO. 4t64rd has a great eye by the look of it.

Hats off to you for a great looking ride Lotus! :D

You have absolutely nothing to explain about the paint in my opinion.

The semi-gloss looks perfect to me. It doesn't look like the typical flat flat flat black. And it doesn't look so shiny that it looks like you were shooting for high-gloss.

I think the car looks great, you should be proud and drive the wheels off of it:)
