New 3" copper carb stacks, new cowl steering (still needs some bracing after Autorama), and new headers. It was nice today so I went out and turned parts of the new headers blue and test drove for real this time to check the steering. Oh yeah, the seats are in also. The wife fits just fine in the p***enger seat. She was worried she wouldn't. Fer cryin' out loud....she's 5' and all of 110lbs!
Looks real good. I like the copper stacks as opposed to the common chrome or beer can. Do you have a closer shot of the pitman arm?
'57 Ford generator. Nothin' else looks right. It is 12volt. The copper stacks have been bouncin' round in my head for a while. I'm gonna do copper fuel lines soon and maybe copper radiator pipes. I polished them first but didn't like 'em. I busted out the d/a w/320 grit on it and went to work. They almost took an engine turned look. The pitman arm was lengthened with a Flathead ****ecting rod last night. Gotta weld that old **** real hot! I bet I have th only V8 powered car at Cobo with 11 connecting rods!! (I made front friction shocks outta Flatty rods also!) See ya at Cobo next weekend! BTW......it has the Jdubbya stamp of coolness. He and Same Shirt Dteve stopped by for a few to check it out.
Thanks! They match the fuel stains on the intake. Runs like a champ so I'm not gonna touch 'em even if they do leak!
Just got done doing a tech inspection, and everything looks good. The headers are way cooler sounding than the zoomies....real THROATY.
kick *** man! cant wait to see it in cobo. ill be throwing pennys in it all weekend so you can make other thing out of copper for it
Don't let any crackheads near your car with all that copper! That's a very cool and different look. Ya gonna keep em clean, or let em green up a bit?
Looks good man, and like a lot of fun. Can't wait to get mine on the road. Just wondering, how well does it steer with that long of a pitman arm?
Glad to see at least ONE of us has their car ready! I took the '55 to Kritz's yesterday, to put the finishing touches on it there... The plan was to work on it most of the day today and get it finished up, and then have a couple of days to spare, just in case... Well, "something" came up, so now I can't work on it at his house today. I might still be able to get it done in time, but losing the only FULL day I had to work on it's definitely gonna hurt me...
Looks good Pete....now aren't you glad you didn't sell it? The interior definately looks better now. Did you make the seats? Bill
****...you are the Last Minute Thrash MASTER, Bro!! That car could be in 800 pieces two hours before the show and you'd come rumbling in by noon! No worries...but do drop a line if you need anything?
It steers fine. Actually, because the box is out of as tractor, I think the longer arm gives it more 'steer'. Thanks for all the positive comments. I really don't care what alot of people think of my car. It's mine, I built it. If someone doesn't like it, that's cool. Can't wait for Cobo.
Hey, it looks great. Love that oil filler tube, as you can ad the oil from the other side of the windshield. You beat me by 7 connecting rods, as my modified has only 4. two for the headlites and two for the exhaust system. So what do all 11 of them do??.
I've used up 24 connecting rods in the Hellcamino... of course it was 8 at a time... most of which are twisted and bent into unique shapes now. (its hard getting a connecting rod that is 's' shaped out of a block when still connected to a piston BTW...) Peter Beater is looking top shelf. I like the copper. I see why you were wanting to do seats that way... I still like that idea.
Yep...Not for sale now or any time soon. I made the seat panels and friends welded them for me. The toolbox doubles as a battery box and also holds the voltage regulator, starter solenoid and ballast resistor. Just enough room for essential tools (screwdrivers, vice-grips, crescent wrench and regular pliers) in case I need to dis***emble the whole car somewhere.
Very cool car inded! Does it still have the lawn-tractor hood for a trans tunnel? I noticed that at the Frankenmuth show and thought that was a cool idea. Looking forward to seeing it again this weekend. Great job, the copper stacks are rad too!
