Great museum, spent several hours there. First groups of pictures are from the vault, I’ll add main displays later and Motorcycles in the motorcycle thread.

Vault (Tight, hard to get decent pictures down there)

A guy here has 85 running driving cars that he has taken off of the streets and hidden away in buildings.

Last set, nice museum, worth a visit. Nice Porsche display there at the moment and the motorcycles were pretty amazing.

Great photos, thanks for taking us along. I guess I’d better plan to go back there next time I’m down in LA.

  19. That vault is surreal. Historic Rods and Customs stacked like cordwood.

Thanks for the outstanding pictures! It has been a few years since I toured the Peterson, they did not allow photography in the vault when I was there. Also it looks like they have straightened out the inventory down there, when I saw it it was more like an airport parking ramp with cars kind of all over the place.
The Peterson has always been one of my favorite museums, the original building and displays were epic, the “new” building is state of the art but almost too antiseptic.

Bruce Meyer is on the board, past Chairman and driving force of the museum. He regularly keeps a few of his hot rods on display including the Bob McGee ‘32 roadster which he gifted to the museum a while back.
‘lil Johns T sedan has been there for quite a while, too bad because it should be out where more people can see some of John’s trend setting handy work.

There is a lot of stuff that I was wondering what had happened to them. One was a 67 Hemi Coronet WO23 Lightweight car, also in the vault. The early Porsche stuff on display was pretty cool plus movie cars that were too new to post. Great time, the Bruce Meyer wing had some amazing cars from his collection in it.

Thanks for the sharing the epic pictures. Is the vault open to the public? Clearly we need to schedule a visit there when we come over in June.

Yes, it’s open for an additional fee, well worth the time and money.
During your visit to LA, make time for the Lions Museum, Bobs Big Boy in Burbank on Friday, night, the Automotive bookstore in Burbank, Supercar Sunday in Woodland Hills on Sunday morning, Donut Derelicts in Huntington Beach on Saturday morning and South OC cars and coffee in San Clemente also on Saturday morning (easy and beautiful drive along the coast after Donut Derelicts. Thanks @jnaki for the advice.
Also, schedule a tour of the Nethercutt in Sylmar, absolutely amazing cars, furniture and facility, plus it’s free, just need to reserve in advance.
