Here's another take on re-proportioning the Dodge.
I moved the rear fender forward, but moved the wheel opening backward.
This keeps the wheel in the stock position, relative to the chassis. The wheel is now centered in the fender.

When I moved the fender, I accidentally left a "ghost image" over the rear portion. It looks like a mini-fin, which I thought was neat, so I left it on!

To eliminate the long deck, I stretched the roofline back.

Yes, it is! However there are some new programs which do just that.
Some use fractal techniques to fill in the spaces as the pixels separate.
Pretty clever stuff, but I thought I'd see if anyone had tried them before plunking down my money.

I don't need a perfect enlargement, just something that would give a better image when I'm pulling a grille from a small photo to add to a
    larger picture, for example.

Alright, that sounds like a clever bit of software. Could be very useful.

Not anyone's project in-particular, just thought I'd share. The original concept was just a two-seater 57 Chevy Bel Air.

    Off-topic emergency help PLEASE!
I live in south Mississippi where Tropical Storm Lee has been dumping rain these past four days...and once again my roof is leaking around the flashing on the dormers. These dormers are fake and have caused problems in the past and I'm fed up with paying for repairs. Can one of you photoshop experts remove them and let me see what the house will look like? I hate to keep throwing good money after bad but I will if I have to. While you're at it please eliminate the chimney...it's not used with our gas fire and is another potential leak spot. Thanks in advance! :)

Wow, great! Thanks! Actually have a guy coming to give an estimate right now!

Update...keeping dormers...price is reasonable enough and the wife wants 'em on there.

Now if you would have mentioned the wife earlier, I could have told you she wouldn't let you get rid of the dormers. ;) that would have saved you and I some time. :)

these dont work aswell as you think they would. photoshop has different algorythms for enlarging and reducing, you can change which one it uses at the bottom of the image-size window. I find these make the biggest difference. also knowing your limits. you can get from 400 to 800 quite easily. 900-3000 also works okay. for stock i use google images.

I use PhotoSuite, and an old version at that. That's why I was asking about stand-alone programs. One of these days I will pony-up for PhotoShop.

I use Google Images, too, for source material. I do understand there are limits when enlarging. But being able to do a small increase in size would be very helpful when mixing and matching parts when photo-customizing.

Gimp 2 is linux only is it not!? gimp 1 is open to all.

Id recommend paint.net over gimp, thats just my preference. both have the bicubic interpolation algorithm photoshop uses to scale.

theyre both the most commonly used alternatives, they have tutorials, brushes & communities. anything else is just a novelty.

re the genuine fractals plugin, its based around 3 elements (it has 3 sliders basically), size, sharpen, and remove jpeg artifacts.

all 3 programs will already have these options as default or addons.
some people report not being able to tell the difference between GF & default photoshop resize.

its not going to get you from 300px to 1000px it will still look like crap. the solution is to do the same thing everybody else does, wait for a better quality image to come along. nobody mixes extreme pixel differences.

dont forget flickr as a stock resource.

I use Gimp2 with no issues, works well on Windows Vista, scales nicely and very easily and is great for a beginner or a casual photoshopper like me in my opinion.
