  3. Enjoying your conversions, James. That last one (with nice rework of the rear fender, by the way) would also look cool as a sports roadster.

It's amazing what you all can do with photoshop. I have been thinking about how Rusty would look with an aviation themed paint job. Could one of you photoshop wizards put this old fighter type paint job on the truck? Thanks to everyone in advance!

Moose that's awesome!! Any chance you could change the green back to black? Wife isn't digging the green as much as I am. Amazing how you can do that! Thank you so much.

I've been playing around with GIMP with chopping and lowering... I was wondering if someone could paint it black for me?

    Thanks

    Moose,
I have lost the green battle but I think I'm gaining in other areas. We both agreed that if we are going with the aviation theme we need to get rid of the current door/fender art. Anyway you could get rid of it and toss some other aviation stuff on there? I'm in the Marine Corps and my wife is in the Navy. We both fly helicopters so anything helicopter related would be awesome too. Thanks again for your creative skills!

97Snakel668 - put some 50's Buick side ports on hood or, some very short/stubby exhaust headers on side of hood

The roof is cut across the middle, shortened and the back half shunted forwards. It's also raked down towards the back. That gets you most of the way to the shape I made. Laying the back window down and filling up the gaps to the parcel shelf should about cover the rest of it.
I guess you could cut the area around the boot lid free and push it down to get the right profile at the back end.
At least it shouldn´t be expensive to do, just time consuming.

This is my truck. Thanks Moose for your help. How would it look with black wheels, white accent pin stripe to the grille inserts?

  26. Todd...Not sure exactly where you want to see the accent stripe but here are the black wheels

  27. I hope you guys can help with this request:
Before we start, I should say, its not your average Willys, I have a 48 willys truck and the vision I have in my head is a 60's drag truck.
Here is what I did already and what I need to see with photoshop to see if it even comes close to what I see in my head.
I took a 48 willys truck cab and chopped it 6". I removed the rear window full size to put back in.
I then sectioned the truck 12" out of the center. I removed the cowl vent before and re-installed it full sized. I dont want a rat and I dont want a typical open fendered, no hood hot rod, I want to mimic the early willys drag trucks.
I would like to see what a narrowed early willys coupe or truck hood and fenders would look like on this mini willys I have in my head. I am making the bed approx. 4' long and narrowed 10".
Maybe I'm asking to early and should wait to take pictures with the bed and cab, pie crusts with flat fenders over them etc etc on the new frame.
and oh yeah, I know it looks like poop right now, just takes a vision and a bunch of time.
    click pictures to make larger.

Thanks James that gives an even better idea of how to go about it, looks like I'm looking for a Somerset now, just don't tell the wife, not just yet anyhow, let me get some paint on the 38 first.

  30. heck of an effort..thanks for that...buuuut.. was thinking more of the 40 willys front end and round flat rear fenders and my chopped and narrowed cab,
let me find a picture of a 40 willys gasser truck, thats what im going for via working with what I have. I did find a 38 willys front end on here for sale I am thinking of grabbing up and slicing and dicing. was kinda hoping to see what it would look like before I bought the front stuff.
