Event Coverage The PLAID RUN: We're Just Two Guys and We're Having a Good time...HAVING A GOOD TIME!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by KIRK!, Mar 8, 2010.

  1. Hard to see the fourth cylinder behind the ***ortment of junk! Forgot about the Henderson in the Curtiss Museum until I went poking around the internet.

Good trip if you are in mid-state NY (Hammondsport, NY) for anyone interested, there really is a bunch of cool stuff in there.

I believe its a Heath Henderson Model B4. I have a sheet with all the specs. A while back I built some seats for a gentleman in Ohio that had an ice boat, circa 1924. A very strange 3 skid looking vehicle , a prop spinning right in front of your face. I have some pics that I could post if anyone is interested.

A Lotus. I'm not sure of the model or year, but I'd say early '60s.

I have one of these hood ornaments. It's an original casting. It's a "****-a-Snoot". That's the real name but not sure of the spelling.

That is just too cool that the cars are registered and driven. Just think of the kids that see them fly by and are influenced by it.

The first motor looks like a Cord.

That was allot of fun! Hot rods are great but it was cool to look in the review mirror and see a Lotus, an Alfa, and a Ferrari, jamin up the back bumper of the 33 truck. We did spend half the morning dodging cyclist (who by the way have horrible manners) so I didn’t feel bad about crowding them a little more than they would have liked.
I’m pretty sure it’s a private memorial run that we got invited on. It was for a good cause and the entry fee was a donation to an ALS Charity.

I like the stance on the T in this picture. Is that Gilmore advertising on it? If so do you now if it is the real deal or just fake? [IMG]

Woah... That Bugatti Tank has been my inspiration and desktop for years...

I walked into the house of a friend of mine's girlfriend a while back and we made our way up the stairs to her room. It was a nice house but nothing fancy but my eye was attracted to some sketches on the wall. As I was looking at them I realized they were original Pic***o's... I just about fell down the stairs. (She then showed us some Renoir's and other master works)

I think I would have had the same reaction to coming around the corner and seeing that Bugatti.

One of those 'Did that really happen' memories...

this Devil Dude was given to me by my buddy Rick Parkington in Scotland. He's a big time British Bike guy, and writes for the Brit bike mags. It seems different from the state-side versions I've seen. I'm all ears if anyone knows more about these little guys

OK, I'm all ears. It's a Heath Henderson, which I got from the grandson of the original owner, who flew, crashed, & reflew the Heath Parosol with this very engine! I always thought that this was the 2nd generation version, with deep oil pan, tall valve covers. The 3rd version had the twin mags? I'm interested in what you know about this.
BTW, our local club, the SFMC (San Francisco M/C) , established in 1904, has the most prestine, original Curtis in captivity. We've actually helped the Curtis Museum in Hamondsport, the Otis Chandler Museum, and the Smithsonian as a reference for their Curtis examples.

KIRK!, seret, & redfred47 ... very, very cool stuff ... and any benefit to cure Lou Gehrig's Disease is near & dear to my heart (my uncle died of ALS) ... thanks for sharing your "PLAID Adventure"!

On a side note: It's kinda crazy that I actually find more pics of 750/101 series Alfa Romeo's (i.e., Giulietta & Giulia's) here on the HAMB than I do on the Alfa forum
