It takes balance shafts and hydro motor mounts, my 944 runs this style of drivetrain, 3.0L 4 banger (236hp) and a torque tube with a transaxle out back. She can be smooth but as the mounts wear on the car it gets rough at idle. Its super smooth over 1200rpm to 7000rpm though. I had no idea pontiac did this back in the 60's. Super cool, makes me want one to play with. A mid sized 944! lol

  5. Hey! I've got one of those for my son!

    Yours looks faster, though! ;)

I'm looking for one to build. I'm trying to do a repop of my old mans car digger back in '72. Please e-mail me direct with any available. jim@maroneyracing.com 15965871_1370520679687957_7019650594116582131_n.jpg

  8. Nope the international scout 4 cyl was not a Plymouth engine. It was a international design. One half of a 345 or a 304. They came in scouts and pickups . Most of the pickups had the larger displacement 1/2 of a 345 version. I happen to own two of those international slant four engines at present. It,s odd the 1/2 of a 304 is 152 cid. The exact same displacement a the model H Farmall tractor?

  9. I needed a water pump for my 55 GMC that has the Pontiac 287 engine. I looked at the pump on my 61 four cyl tempest. Exact same casting numbers. I found a NOS pump for a 4 cyl on E Bay for $5 + shipping. It fit perfectly on my 55.

Forgive me cause I am old : I remember a friend of mine put a small block Chevy V-8 Facing water pump to the rear, Got everything hooked up, had three gears in reverse, one going forward,
As I recall he got a trans axle from a Tempest, some other stuff from a Marine engine..

Made it all work, but lifted left front wheel with just a touch of the go petal.
does ANY of this ring a bell..?
