I miss the days when risk was part of hot rodding

  4. The First smart ass thing that comes to mind is learn how to drive. :)

    Reality is that -
You should not over power the chassis.
But it really should run out better than a Prius, and run at least a 13 at the strip.

15 second pass is about normal street car stuff, 1/2 the V8s and turbo 4 cyl cars right out of the Walmart parking lot will do that. 14 is a peppy street car, 13 is quite fun on the street. 12's on the street can be problematic but mom could still drive it. The little road ripper I built for my mom runs 12.50s. She loves it !

faster than 12 and there are issues to contend with as a daily driver, plus usually supporting mods that need to be done and you better know how to drive.

  6. Yes I see your point, however unless your car gets shot out of cannon it won't reach double A supercharged gasser momentum in order to do that damage. Can you see my point?

Would be embarrassing? On the subject all things streetrod, I have a buddy who is building a fake blower for his "gasser" that actually hides his blower belt driven A/C pump along with his TBI inside the polished case.

  9. My point would be, it's not worth wrecking your car over.
We had guy show up at our last race a few years ago, on the Friday night before. 64 Plym, 500+ race hemi..Beautiful car . Just a cruise night guy..Electric cut outs and all. Enjoyed drawing a crowd.
Any, his friends must have goaded him into getting a time slip at the track.
He stages up in the left lane, with DOT stickies on it.
He lights up the tires as hooks it hard to the right, then back to the left, tires still spinning, and smack into the wall, before the 330' clocks! Made a mess of the LF of car. I'm sure you'll never see him on a drag strip again.
I guess no one ever told him that his 11.50 run had already turned into about a 13.0h.
This was early, and he could have come right back and tried it again, instead of what he did.
A powerful car , blazing the tires, on or off the track, is no joke.

Now that has to be faster than a prius, right?

  12. Actually the original engine never ran! It is a close-up of the intake on my clone of Ed Roth's Mysterion. His was so poorly built the frame kept breaking in the truck being hauled between shows, H took out the innards of the engines and trannys but no luck. He finally had it dismantled. Mine will run. In fact I started it and ran the 390 for a few seconds yesterday. Still chasing all the bugs before I try driving it. Not a car you would want to drive cross country. In fact so uncomfortable, not a car you want to drive across the parking lot!!!!!!!

  14. I'm not sure how some of you guys get on a hot rod web site :)

Ain't nobody talking about a max effort competition car, or a top of the food chain predator like a supercharged out-law gasser, or a mega cube monster 500 cubic inch pro stock engine.

A 331 hemi in a #77 willys coupe ought to be able to smoke a Prius like it's tied to a tree stump. Bone stock the long bell small port 331 hemi had 180Hp.

It aint my site but the way I see it you are an artist. The F.A.S. features guys that work in all sorts of mediums on paper, you just do yours in metal. Their drawings aren't faster than a prius, they're just drawn that way.

You are not alone on this site for having cars that are just for looks. ;)

I see no reason why you should..You da OP..No one else had to post...I'd like to know how the rear end is put together in your clone...

  20. All well and good, but I can think of much more comfortable cars for a daily driver.

Next up: Rides better than a Cadillac (and slower than a Prius););)

  21. Just kidding too! Takes all kinds to make a dysfunctional family. :p

  22. Trust me, the Willys is just for the looks, ain't for the jet-smooth, wide-track rid.
