".....the dust of Tardel's work..." he says. There's not a speck in that workshop. Looks good so far, I'll be watching.
Looking forward to this build/thread. Gonna check in every day to see how the work progress. Thanks to all involved.
They say a clean desk is the sign of a sick mind . Wonder what a clean shop means ? No distractions just focus on the project at hand . That is amazing build all the right parts and pieces . Thanks for sharing Boss.
"Well, that was all bullshit"......."Watch your asses overheads." I love the hell out of that writing style! Hoodlums world wide for sure! I sure am looking forward to following this build thread..... Should be a real good one!
Nice build, I like the use of 46-48 wish bones. Can't find any dust, but it look like you caught a poltergeist in the third shot.
Looks great, build and shop! Do you have a lift, or plans for a lift? What are the dimensions on your shop? A/C?
Don't have a lift, but have holes for one... I've been waiting for it for over a year now. The shop is much smaller than it looks through the wide angle lens. It's about 30' by 40' or so... No A/C - just a trio of wall mounted vintage fans.
Do most big bore engines start with an 8ba block? And it looks like spark plug holes are offset? Is that due to bore? What a great shop! I think the new reality of "shops" is that they don't employ 25 people but instead serve their niche and turn out less cars but more quality. There are so many people building cars it's like they could have a match.com site for pairing you up with a builder that suites you best like Mr. Keith Tardel!
LOVE the car.. but.. watch your asses overheads?? You've gotta be kidding me. The overheads will be watching their asses because that's where the flathead will be located, in the rear view.
Today was a disaster in the shop. Keith's new sandblaster showed up and while he was busy assembling it, I decided to tackle the steering geometry. It all came crashing to a halt when Keith put his damned arm straight through the glass of the new blaster. He's an absolute bull in a china closet... I swear. Or maybe those roles were reversed a bit. In any case, here's what got done: Randy had some cherry rear Lincoln backing plates. Of course, they had the hole for the emergency brake. Keith welded them up and made fronts out of em. Once done, he pissed away some time by mocking up the deuce shell and getting an idea of placement: And then, he moved on to steering geometry. The F100 pitman arm was cut loose of its unecessaries and a tapered hole was drilled: Of course, that lead to all of the dropping of the arms on the backing plate end of the deal: And that's really about all that got done today.... Assembling and breaking Sandblasters can take up a good part of your afternoon in a hurry - even if you are a pro (at breaking shit). Anyway, this is really the first update post to this build and I'm wondering if I'm glossing over the specifics too much. I think I probably am... It will take me sometime to figure out the balance of covering the build vs. actually working, but I'll get there.
Haha... I love it when people call me Cochran. Reminds me of my high school football coach... Visions of my face mask being grabbed an... "God damnit Cochran! Quit playing grab ass you good fer nuttin tally wacker!" Keith is a grumpy worker, so that helps. He just sort of stalks around the shop and I stay in my office so as not to get yelled at.
Not only is he wearing shorts,he's using a Chinese wrench....that's like Picasso using an Etch a Sketch
