These may not be the rarest Fords in the world, but I've only seen a VERY few of them in my life. These cars are cool and tiny compared to the U.S. models. Most of them are british Fords, but the rest are from all over the world. If you have any pics of these cars that have been built as a hot rod... Please post them. Most people never knew they were built. Later, Kevin Ooltewah Speed Shop
That's funny, I just saw one of those in the first pic driving down the road today! In full resto trim! I was thinking to myself, man that thing is TINY!
Here's some more pics of these rare and small cars. I'm guessing about half to 3/4 the size of the US versions. The little one that looks like an A model had 8hp. from the factory. A 60 horse Flatty would be a beast in that car! Kevin Ooltewah Speed Shop
I'd say even smaller than that. And probably only half the weight. That 8hp was British horsepower, used for tax purposes, not brake horse power. I think they were about 16 to 20 proper horses. Truly frightening in modern traffic. And here's an indication of their size. Or lack there of.
Yeah, they used to make Model A's in Yokohama Japan. Not really on topic as I believe they are full scale, but I always wanted to see one of those while I'm here, but so far nothing. I need to tour the Toyota museum (I've just done the plant tour), I hear they have lots of odd ball cars there, so maybe a Model A too? But here in Japan they have been building micro cars since day one, including some cool "knock offs" of American (or other foreign) cars.
Like toy cars. I stood at a swap looking at a couple of Austin 7 chassis, engines and other parts. I could not get my head around the idea that they were for a 'car' driven by adults. More like baby pram parts, so tiny. Scary.
that Austang is huge compared to a Bugatti Brescia, 1/2 the size and 20x the power, truly scary perambulation. There's an Austin 7 sometimes competes in hillclimbs around here that sounds like a hot Japanese 4 cyl bike, the blower is bigger that the motor. OK freaky Fords, how about an Argentine 37 coupe? Or a GAZ AAA halftrack?
they are smaller than 3/4s - here are a couple of pics of the little convertible you posted up, seen this last year - its the only one I have seen. I can only guess the doors were shaped because you had to sit with your arms on the outside. the model Y you have put up is quite common here and there are a few of them about, there was a company made glassfibre copies of them year ago now.
Thaqt '35 coupe & the '34 roadster are neat looking pieces. I've never seen either of them before. I'd love to see the roadster with a set of US spec. '34 commercial headlights. JH
Ok I'll bite, in the first post, third picture, is that some sort of Austin Coupe judging by the pic title.....What year would it be? I like it!
There's a street rod Model Y running around the Northwest that's well done. It looks like a Bantam at first, until you get closer and see it's a Ford design.
If I remember correctly, there used to be a business (I think it was Flatlanders or some such) that sold fiberglass Ford Model "Y" bodies, basically a scaled down Model 40 tudor sedan ('33-'34 Ford). Really cool little car!
I LOVE model y's...they are so cool fenderless, the propotions look so much better than full size 33-34 tudors. If i ever got a 33-34 tudor i would definatly have to think about tryin somethin crazy like sectioning it, narrowing it, and shortening it to look like one of these haha. Its so small it would fly with a hopped up b banger...
Hey, If you get a "fullsize" 33-34 tudor...give me a call and I'll find a little model Y for you over here and we can trade
the little model C here was like a mini version of a '35, they were tiny though, half the size of a std '35 - unfortunately you dont see a lot of them running about here at all. the blue car with the skinny '35 grille is a model CX I think.. again this was tiny compared to a std '35 - about half the size.
