You gotta remember this is when jacked up Cortinas and Capris with spoilers were the in thing. There were very few traditional customs or lowriders. Mind you anyone with a Yank car was a hero but some fellas like Milt here understood what the real deal was, and is. I couldn't afford an American car but I read everything about 'em, and just like Milt I was changed forever by American Graffiti.
First time I saw it there was a fella sitting behind us who sang along to every song loud as fuck......very damn annoying.
I went to the Chelsea cruise in 1986 and there was a kid there with a nice mild custom Consul Capri, I told him I had one in America, he said, "hop in we'll go for a ride." It was rad.

Glad you're still at it Milt, keep the faith.

When I ride home in my Kustom this afternoon I shall have all these years inside me and thank my lucky stars for having found this way of life that the squares will never understand.

  8. Glad that someone has taken care of it and kept it as it was in the movie.

last thing I read on the 58 was a response to the question of what ever happened to the 58 by the owner. He and his daughter were redoing the car for her to use for her Senior high year, I think it was as a school project as well as for her to use for her senior prom. The plan then was she was going to freshen up the 348 and reinstall it in the car.I posted pics of a white 348 3spd 58 Impala rotting away on a farm near me it's been sitting in the same spot for 40 years or so and it's NOT for sale not I'm going to restore it and it doesn't matter if you flash cash!!theres about 20 other HAMB friendly cars there aswell

  14. Nads...thats almost poetic.....who would have thought all those years ago at Chelsea I would have ended up living here, driving my '51 & living the movie!

Milt, I remember both your '58's

Bo Hopkins built a Merc but I don't think it's the original. I saw it and it's fancy, done up gold chainer style instead of like the movie car.

Bo hopkins was at a local show with a merc that was the same color as the merc in the movie. But if it was the original its a shame what they did to it. Him and the promoters were saying it was the original. But it was all gold chained out

There seems to be alot of confussion on the where abouts of the "ORIGINAL" Graffiti cars from the movie. I think everyone should take a look at this site and read all the "FACTS" http://kathyschrock.net/graffiti/....Whew this should put ll of the nay sayers at rest... Jeff
