Now that he salt is all gone, it was about time yesterday to get the 40 out for the first time this year! Felt great to back in the seat!

We have our own ways to cope with the pandemic blues. Some people still go shopping, dining out and frequent places with a ton of people. My wife and I are old school and just like to go to our historic spots from our old OC history while growing up in a Ford. We don’t see people or if we do, we are still in our car. But through the windshield or window, we see old hot rods as we go places that were once daily occurrences.

One of our favorite things to do is to drive to the ocean. It gives us a great feeling that “all is right with the world and the beauty still exists.” Our history with the ocean is ongoing from the 1940s to the present times. As in the past, anytime there was a contemplating moment, a walk through the sand to the water was enlightening.

But, in the most recent short drive several days ago, we went to a view site that was once a secret trail to get to a "point break only" the locals used to surf. There was no way to see the waves from any public street. An LA Times owned, private beach was the frontal property. But, since then, it has been developed and has now offered coastal access and tremendous view points all along the cliff top areas.

So, how do we know the short “feel good” drive works? Check out the owner of the 1940 Ford Pickup Truck soaking up the ocean views and contemplating the world problems like where is the next pizza coming from today?

So I posted a picture from fall. This morning, after a 5 month hibernation for a rad and disc brakes, I headed out on dry highways. On my way home not so much. I managed to stay on the highway even though it looks like I’m in the ditch.

It’s almost spring here.

 

Route 66 at Spencer, Missouri yesterday on my way to the Hot Tod Reunion at “Smokin’ MoKan” drag-strip . It was a good day to be on the road in an old car.

 

On the way to "picnic at pauls" following a friends 32 WITHOUT fenders and wide tires, hoping we don't drive through any gravel somewhere!
