How about some fresh Badlands SD vacation pictures through the truck windshield?


Maybe a couple from outside of the truck?
A ghost town?

Took a pic the first time I had the ‘62 Mercury out this year, a couple days back.

 

We started at the east side of SD, and everything between, then ended up doing the Badlands/Custer/Deadwood/Spearfish/Rapid City areas and 4 scenic loop drives, we spent 5 days in that area before we headed back home, pretty close to 2,000 miles on the old Dodge.

My wife and I enjoy coastal shoreline cruising. The blue sky and ocean on one side and sometimes, she sees a cool old car going our way or in the opposing lane. The shout of “There’s an old car coming our way…” or “There is a hot rod parked on the curb across the street.”

She sees them and I grab my digital camera already set for focus and now, it is a composition centered camera that I can just sight, point and shoot. 90% of the focusing and composition is used looking at the lens pointed in the right direction. I tried using a phone camera and that is a joke. So, I let my wife use her phone camera to take ones I cannot.

Originally, the roadster was in front. Then as the traffic is varied, we were now in front and then the camera was pointed at the rearview mirror inside and the outside view mirror on my side. Sometimes, the photos are crystal clear on the little mirrors.

So, technically, it is a “photo of the road through your windshield.”


The roadster showed the red flames running down the side of the door to the back. It was one hot rod that would look nice in our small two car garage. And it would fit with room all around… YRMV

Reminds me of this pic I took somewhere in Illinois on our way to Lloydfest 2024. Technically I shouldn't post this since it was taken out of Clarence's driver's window and not the windshield.

 

According to google maps, Illinois is, by land m*** size, the flattest state in the country. They say the flat area in the central part of IL is the largest flat area in the country.

I live in the north west corner of the state (60 miles from IA, and 20 miles from WI), in this little corner of the state we have the 2nd highest elevation in the state, and some pretty scenic hills and valleys as you travel west, or north , then west.

 

Went for a cruise last evening with the 34 Ford and returned home via expressway. The blower is just at 3 psi at 2300 revs. Gives a nice shove at 130 in high gear. The blower lost the edge a bit compared to last year, it will not reach 10psi on hard acceleration anymore as the rotor strips need to be replaced.

 

Picked up the ‘55 from the upholstery shop Friday. First time driving since last fall. I’ve put 150 miles on it since. It’s nice to have a couple days in a row with no rain.

 

Heres something I never would have imagined doing even just a couple months ago....driving through San Fransisco and over the golden gate bridge. Stick shift car (truck) to boot

Tested the revised seat position. Got fuel and bopped over the hill to Howard Towne's place.

Took a buddy out for a blast around our area yesterday.
He’s a mopar muscle car guy and he’d never been in a ‘hot rod’ before. Think he really enjoyed it and it’s always fun to see someone’s face when you hammer it and 400+ hp in a 2500 lb car lights up. He’s no stranger to hp, but in a little 90 year old car…
Hit three smaller town car shows and logged some miles on the Tudor to see how the updated trans and dual quads ran. Not too shabby. But now I gots lotsa dead bugs to clean off the car.
He snapped this pic on the way home after the last stop. Nothing special as we were just puttin’ along in light traffic on highway 2.
