I agree.... I will not be making any mods to the body, I actually love it the way it is. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
If it was center steer, it may have been a Track Roadster, not a Dry Lakes car, not that there is anything wrong with that. Bob
I'd keep the "Battle Scars" too, not all race cars were show cars. I remember going into the pits for the first time at the local Stock Car track when I was a kid. Cars that looked flawless from the grandstand seats, were not so up close. Bob
Tomorrow im gonna tackle the rear of the frame. Im going to make some new spring hangers, weld them to the front of the rear end tubes than move the crossmember forward in the frame, this will keep the wheelbase the same and lower the car as well. The front crossmember is pretty beat. I think ill repair it, make a suicide mount and weld it to the top of the crossmember...that'll move the front end forward about 3 inches and lower it about 4 inches.
My pal Ray sent me a few pics of old dirt track cars from Cali.....One of the pics strongly resembles the T
So Ray(onekoolcat) told me to get the new HRD, said there was a car with similar mods done to it... He posted pics already, it's the jack Greiner T... Has that car ever been found?? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Spent some time today on the rear end and frame. Ray Prue hooked me up with a pair or rear spring hangers. I wanted the car lower so I welded them on the front side of the rear end which solved two problems, ride height and turtle deck to rear crossmember clearance, I couldn't slide the body far enough forward because the inside of the T deck was hitting the crossmember.
I also pinched the rear of the frame to match the width of the body and turtle deck....the relocation of the spring hangers and cossmember should lower it between 4 and 5 inches.
Will keep watching with interest. I like the way this is heading! Sent via carrier pidgeon & smoke signals with the HAMB App
Awesomeness! Can't wait to see the body back on it with the pinched rails. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
GREAT progress, Pete! All I've been doing for the last 8 days straight is cleaning my shop. I think I have about 90 hours in 8 days. Your progress looks a lot cooler than mine...
Got the rear crossmember welded back in, body's back on.....she's low! Ill tackle the front tomorrow.
Iv been looking at the pics of the Jack Griener T racer in the new issue of Hot Rod Deluxe and his old race car looks a lot like my T body. It has the same cut out on the driver side cowl panel, the inner steel structure. The T has traces of white and blue paint on it too...
This is the known history on the T roadster body that I got from the seller who received the car as partial labor trade, that's all I have so far so if anybody has more info please tell. Sorry I have not been on the HAMB lately (internet in the boons has it's ups and downs, been down more than up the last month). what I know about the T body is fairly limited as the person who I got it from is now dead but as I remember it he got it in 1953 form the guy who had ran it in the San Francisco Bay Area, more than likely Oakland or San Jose as there were many speedways in that area. Fred Waybright, who I got it from had the existing body work done in prep to make a street rod out of it and he told me that the center steering for the drag-link came out through a 37 chevy headlight bucket on the left side. With Fred dead I can not find out anything else, wished I could supply more info but that is the story as I know it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Really *****in! Can't wait to see this at ROG this year. Really liked your Roadster last year, and I am sure that this one won't disappoint. Keep on kicking ***!

I accidentally deleted this entire thread while at work on my iphone......thanks to Ryan for finding and restoring it.
Worked on repairing the front crossmember tonight for a bit. Iv never seen one break to this extreme. Im going to use it as a suicide mount so I wont be trying to replicate what was there. Plans are to fill the the cut out area with new beefy plate than attach the new mount to the face and top...and add a few gussets.
