That is a huge shame...I hope no one was seriously injured as that's quite a speed to encounter any impact at...I suspect this inspired racer despite its age of build had security in Belt and Bar but that of course is no guarantee. Glad there is a silver lining.

  6. That’s got to be difficult seeing your work in that state. It’s a testament to your design that the driver wasn’t hurt worse. Hope it all works out for you & the car.

Well there is some good news and bad news about the Rouster indy car. The bad news is Insurance ended up totaling it from the damage from the accident. The good news is I was able to purchase the car back and we plan to eventually get it al fixed back up and drive the wheels off of it! Here’s to it getting a second chance at life instead of going to a salvage lo

  11. That’s pretty cool for you. Such a labor of love then to have to give it up. Must be some what satisfying to get it back into your possession. Sucks for the original owner though.

So I am finally getting around to start the repairs of the Indy car. I am hoping I can get back in shape to go to a few events this year with it like speedweek, TROG and maybe a hill climb or two.

so yesterday I started repairing the nose of the car since I have to see it every time I walk through the office. I still have a little more work to, weld up some splits and clean up. Not taking back 100% where it was before, going to leave some of the gouges as battle scars in the aluminum 19A8130B-FE56-43A9-B48E-2AC67675386B.jpeg C6C224FD-E551-471A-BFBB-6025A52B9FA8.jpeg 013BB4CD-C117-401E-9EA8-1689463CE628.jpeg 336E2A0C-CECC-4DAB-91D4-FF33ECBB93FF.jpeg 8AF035CD-D752-4F83-A9BD-7D5F8E651F06.jpeg 0C68D9C4-0ED7-4DF8-8020-4B5AB88C790B.jpeg 184A681A-9841-4DCB-A9C5-234C182B7E58.jpeg 9E86F19A-4A21-4D25-87FA-6ECF5AE0E82E.jpeg CAE1A553-A929-4FC6-99BF-3D109DE741CA.jpeg

I'd take it back to 100%. Seems a shame not to, IMHO. Put the battle scars pix in your scrapbook. Gary

By battle scars there a few gouges in the aluminum where it was crunched. I really don’t want to weld them up and file them back out. Plus with it being aluminum and I am going to race it, street drive it I am sure there will be rock dents and dings a long the way.

  16. Hey Mike , looks great , what kind of fill do you have in your fire hose bag ? Sand , shot or what ? Thanks . Blue

Lead shot #8 if I remember correctly

Got the nose back on the car today. Still needs more work to correct the light lines and more DA time to get out the sanding scratches. Over all I am pretty happy that I was able to save the original nose instead of making a new one. Awesome...I think that walk to the office got a little more easier on the eyes...if Cars could talk you could write a book on the great things they'd say about you...;)

Awesome. Thanks for the video. Have to say- & u the expert but saw no grease on front wheel bearings - u probably already greased or some other kind of bearing. Also surprised cobra fender heavy enough to sit/lean on. Great build/repair

So happy for you that it ended up back in your shop. Well you are a metal fabricating magician and make a very good video presentation too. It is just right speeded up on the extended parts and regular speed on the "good parts" :)

Yes wheel bearing where already greased before putting them on. Some of the sections on video were cut out to make the video flow better. Just like greasing they king pins, even though you can see the grease on them. As well as thread locking all the bolts that go into a blind hole.

the Daytona body is plenty strong. I wouldn’t do anything to compromise the body on that car

Took the Indy car to Stewart’s upholstery in Sunbury Oh to get the interior looking more appropriate. Can’t wait to see what he does with it 68A18C88-86E5-4F7C-A1D4-0610CCC96BF3.jpeg 0B0E7D3B-319C-49EB-8781-3AB8EC7D31B7.jpeg 30F1C21E-F414-4C82-8CAD-98E1AF49E7AA.jpeg 9B13E856-1C18-4DBF-A19C-70E4390A372A.jpeg

A little bit of an update. I didn’t like the gauge or upholstery choices the customer made. So since it’s mine now I decided to go with something a little more appropriate. Next stop is at speed week!
