Howdy Drop out! i will take alook at my stash of castoff adapters out in the shop tomorrow AM. I think I may have what you need...
Any word on the adapter? I'm still in need. I found out that the 1969 head I have, was a head that could have been used on 200ci blocks or 250ci blocks. The 200 was used in Falcons, Comets, Rancheros. The 250 was used in Mustangs, Mavrics, Fairlanes. The bigger cars used this head with either an Autolite 1V 1101A carb, or a 2V two barrel carb. It depends. Never the less, where did all of thoes spacers go?? All I need is one. ~HELP~
OH YEA, It was good to finally make it to the HAMB breakfast at Madisons on the First Sunday. I'll make sure to work this into my monthly ritual.
Great post about your Ranchero, Will we see it at Billitproof again this year? Done anything else you would like to share with us ....
Hey Drop out! Sorry, got busy with the world and never got back to you about the adaptor. I don't have any 1.75 type like what you are looking for. I have about six of the 1.50 and 1.375 types though. I do have a brand new Clifford weber 32/36 adaptor for that size though. I was going to E-bay it, but can work you a deal if you could use it. For the next week, give me a call on my posted phone number on my signature line rather than a P.M. as I will be out of town for about ten days.
Hee-Haw! I've been quite busy working on the Ranch. As you know, this project has thrown me some curve balls. But I'm still up to bat. I took out the "OLD FAITHFULL" 170ci motor. Man that mill worked like a champ and looked as if it had never had any lovin'. While the motor has been out, I've been taking care of other issues in the engine bay. I've also been working on the interior trying to spruce it up a bit. I've got a big suprise for you all, but I wont let you in on the secret untill I get the Ranch on the road. I plan on dropping my motor in this week. But wont get a chance to fire it up untill later in July. The headers I ordered from Ford Six Performance have been on back order for quite some time. But I understand that they are shipping shortly. Thanks for the laughs, jabs and kudos. I enjoy sharing this with the HAMB because the HAMB ROCKS.
OH, I forgot to say that the Ranch will not make it Billetproof this year. Sucks because I thought I had all that I needed well before the show. But, such is life. Getting on the road and driving it is my main goal. The car show would have been frosting.
Man, I cant believe I have missed this post until now! What a rad car and youve done so much to this point! Im really glad you werent able to sell it. This charmer is a keeper. Chap-chap, rightie-O and full marks for being on the limit!
good job mate, i like a guy who's not afraid of a little rust. she's lookin awesome now i'd be proud to drive her. P.S. good job on the 'striping too, love the tikis on the dash and thats gotta be the luckiest glove box door ever. if you ever crash the car with that thing fitted you musta been a baaaaaaad boy
Thanks for the Good Vibes from Down Under Fuzzybear. I've got a set of headers comming from your neck of the woods. It's taken them a long time to make them, but I read that they're worth it. I'll post photos of my progress soon. So far I've cleaned up the engine bay, detailed the interior w/ a sneaky-peaky that I wont share untill I get my Ranchero into driving condition. I'm doing breaks while I wait for the parts I have on order. I had to buy a new flex plate for one of my pressure fingers were bent. I had my fly wheel re-surfaced. I've installed the bell housing and trans to my motor, which is still on the engine stand. I built a real sturdy shifter mount for my Hurst. I have a Smithy muffler in a box, brand new Blue and ready for my motor. I've made my own carb adapter for the 1101A Single Barrel carb I plan on using. I'll have to make or buy a cable type linkage for this set up because this carb was desgined differently than the 1100 carb. I've been learning a lot and solving problems like mad. A few problem still have me stumped but it is because I happen to either not know the right people to ask or my year machine is sort of inbetween and overlooked. Having fun I've spent the last 4 months sorthing this all out. each night afterwork till 10-11PM. Liestening to the Seattle Mariners games on my old radio sure makes it a wonderfull time. I love baseball on the radio. My oh My. OH YEAH Monster, that was Brilliant, Well stated old boy, Pip Pip and all that rot.
As promised here are some photos from my most reascent work to my lovely Ranchero. I had to cut the core support to make room for the motor / trans. With the motor out I took the time to detail the area. Here is the OLD FAITHFUL 170ci motor. It served me well. I spiff up the motor bay. Above is the wimpy shifter mount which was probably supplied by hurst to accomidate lots of trannys. Here is my HULKY shifter mount. It is very solid. From the top you can see it's really HULKY. I noticed my passanger side wheel had some brake fluid on it. Found that I had a leaking piston. I guess that after a year of damp cold weahter, and sitting around, a wheel cylender would begin to leak. But who would have guessed that a shoe would split. The brake shoe keepers which anchor the shoe to the backing plate were rusted through, so I made my own. New shoes, new piston New keepers, New flex lines & New steel lines.
I've completed a mod to my 1101A carb. It came equiped w/ a auto choke. I stole manual choke parts off of my 1100 carb. I 'Hacked the Gibson' {Extra 10 points for anyone who can name the movie I'm refearing too} and was able to modifly the body of the 1101A carb. Now I have manual choke. Also, My Hurst shift mount that I carefully measured and designed...was too big to fit into my trans tunnel. DOH! So I did some alterations to it and now have a very stout mount. Thats the news for this week. Have a Happy 4th for all of you American Hambers. For Hambers not celebrating Americas B-Day, set off some fire works just for the hell of it.
lookin slick! tons of work bein done! great job archieving your progress! Its all about the pentiums!
Thanks MrModelT, Some of your good advice and knowledge has been put to use in this machine. I'll give you a 'hollar' when things are ready for fire. Here are some more images for you image addicts. I've looked at several Falcons w/ inline six motors and always thought that the heater hoses could have been routed slightly better. I purchased brass barbed fittings (including a hose union) and I found a 90 degree radiator hose that looked like it would do the trick. It did. This is a home made hose clamp idea that I copied from some modern car spotted at the wrecking yard. This will act as a guide, keeping my hoses from the header...however if my headers never arrive, then it's all just a waste of time. ;p The fuel pump caused me some greif. All the photos I found on this pump showed the pump with the two cylinders aiming downward. If you try to install this kind of pump in a downward position you'll never get it to mount. MrModelT shed some light on this for me. This is first time I've ever bent metal line. These bends are a bit tight but I dont think they'll slow down the fuel flow. If they do I'll bend more...big deal. I used my brake flair tool to put a slight buldge in the tips of each line, to simulate a factory line. It works pretty good w/ the basic tool I have. More later. Working on parking brakes & tach right now.
I am honored to be a help to ya Dropout! It is nice to be able to help out a friend in need, contribute to the hot Rod community......and finally use some of this useless junk takin' up space in my head! Glad to see you've made some great progress since my last visit...keep up the good work!
Thanks Fellow HAMBers. It's always good to get positive feed back. MrModleT, let me know when you need some help with your front end. I'd love to lend a hand on that.
Don't take this wrong I like what you are doing for the Ranchero. It mostly looks great. I have been following this thread since it started. But I could not keep quiet any longer those hose clamps you have on the fuel lines are driving me crazy. They look to be what we call sc6's because the tails are soo long and should be sc4's for the 5/16's fuel lines. Yes it may not be that big a thing to most but it drives me crazy when I see it. I have been cut to many times by those tails when working on something. And I just think it takes away for the overall look. And yes I can be very OCD about some things just ask my wife.
The Ranchero is looking really good! I just got my '62 Ranchero out of storage and started working on it. My floors need some patches but your floors made mine look great.
Kram, glad to be an inspuration. Barney. I know I know....When I was at the parts house, my mind went blank trying to remember the hose size. I did buy the wrong size...I knew it the very minute I pulled one out of the bag and looked at my hose. The good news is that hose clamps are cheap and I do plan on replacing them all...soon. I take constructive criticism well, thanks for your input, I know you mean well and wish to see things done right. I do appreciate that.
