From Quain Stott: BITTERSWEET ANNOUNCEMENT THE Southeast Gassers Association IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP SEGA has just enjoyed its 12th very successful season and the experts said it would never work. It was started to help preserve Drag racing History, the right way and to give myself and many others a place to race in a real drag race. 11 years later I was inducted into the NC hall of fame because of what the SEGA has done to preserve drag racing history. I have enjoyed millions of fans and racers Leslie Horne and I shook hands on a deal for him to be the proud new owner of the MOST SUCCESSFUL NOSTALGIA ORGANIZATION IN THE WORLD. Be assured there are plenty of contracts in place that will keep the SEGA as pure as it has always been and to keep key employees in place so things will run as smooth as it has in the past. I feel that Leslie has the financial support, the business sense and the energy to take the SEGA to the next level. I can’t take all of the credit for the success it has seen because it has took an army to make this happen. I would like to take time to thank the Racers that have supported me through the ups and downs through the last 12 years. It’s the racers that make the show. I want to thank the millions of fans that help us promote and pay at the gate to help pay the bills, without y’all it would have failed at the start. All of the SEGA employees that have helped me to make the show run smooth and put up with my funny ways of wanting things done. To the sponsors who have supported me, some go as far back as my Pro Mod career. Thanks to all the magazines company’s and social media that did their part in supporting me, most of y’all also go back to my Pro Mod career. For the sacrifices and support my friends and family has shown through the 12 building years. I close in saying that I beg for your continued support to help Leslie and his staff to keep the SEGA successful so SEGA can go strong for another 12 years and so we can all have a place to race. I will be showing my support by racing with the SEGA, a new A/Gas car is underway for me right now. I type all of this with a heavy heart and tears running down my cheek but I assure all of you this is the best for me mentally and for the success and growth of the SEGA. Quain Stott
Bravo Quain! You have left a big mark in the tarmac to establish what nostalgia door slammer drag racing should represent of the past. From a West Coast fan, hint hint! Now about that wheelstander truck?
Quain... If it's good for you... It's good e'nuff for me, Brother! God willing, Leslie will have the fortitude to keep true to your original vision. Either way, SEGA need's our support! It's the BEST game in town... Bar NONE!!!
Quain , Thank you for your efforts to create this series. SEGA is the only race I've ever traveled across the country to attend (Utah to Indiana several times) . I was never disappointed. The racing is amazing. Everyone was super nice. When the racers found out that we traveled so far to attend they went out of their way to accommodate us. You may not remember it, but when you found out we were there all the way from Utah, you tracked us down, introduced yourself , and personally offered to get us seats up in the tower at Waglers so we could watch in air-conditioned comfort. If you recall, my response was "Thank you very much but I came 1500 miles to watch this race and I'm not gonna do it through a window, I'm gonna stand right here on the starting line!". And I did the whole day. It was one of the more memorable experiences of my life. Thanks again and best wishes going forward.
Father Knows Best! I reread the above post by Quain (for the 2 or 3 time) and still have a difficult expressing my thoughts. I have followed both Quain and the SEGA starting with The Moonlighter thread on here. Everyone should go to this thread because it shows the level of commitment that is necessary to succeed/complete most anything in life. That being said, I and my travel partner (Taylor, my SIL), will continue to support this organization of Great Racers and People. Congratulations and Best Wishes to the New Owner!!
You are still and always will be THE MAN Quain. The man who started it all and is still in the game. Wishing you all the best brother.
I'm late tom the party, just seen this post. Thanks for all the kind words and let it be known that a lot of the success that the SEGA seen was because of the support you guys and gals gave me right here on the Hamb site. Many Thanks.
