The bed is beat and not like a box. I know there are precut kits for the bed wood, but what fun is that. As soon as Mallory is on the road it may be time to drop a tree or two to get some wood to make a new bed. I don't think I'll be able to get a good pattern from the wood thats left so, I'm looking for some patterns or a drawing with all the dimensions for the bed wood. If anyone has a lead on some please let me know.
She is running and driving around, shiny new boots all the way around. Where will the first trip be to?
Amazing what a set of cleaned up wheels will do, and throw in a set of dog dish caps and some trim rings and your rollin'! That is one of my personel low buck upgrades too! Great writing as asphalt pirate mentioned, you might have missed your calling there. Good luck with the project and have fun!!
What has this forum degenerated to? Those trucks are not traditional hotrods. I drove one with a small block 400 for 17 years but it was not a 'girl'.
I'm probably not the only one that was expecting something like this? Nice truck, I had one that got me everywhere for years.
Hey Falcon, it's hard enough to justifie the funds for the truck, that fender ornament might break the bank.
What a rainy couple of days, I need a Cure and it's Friday I'm in love! I think the dash was used a s a coaster in the pool hall when you could still lite up a smoke and shoot the s*#t without someone getting their feelings hurt. The dash may still need some work, but the gauge cluster looks a bit better and Mallory is ready to go on her first drive today. Will she be pretty enough? Will someone sneak a pic with their wonder phone and instgram it for their unseen friends to see? Time will tell, she's feeling better, but not quite yet twenty something hang at the gym yoga pant wearing..............
Big time photo shoot at the shop today, of the two wheel kind! Only Terd will know what it is. Two shiny new bumpers are being delivered tomorrow, Chrome and black paint, it doesn't get any better then that!
I've already got a plan where this one is going! The brakes just weren't feeling right, they would stop but they gave you the feeling that sooner or later them might not. Pulled the right rear drum and found out were the brake fluid was going a bit of a leak and the cylinder looked like it came from the bottom of the sea. So a trip down to the local parts house for some new parts and to find out what's happening around town. After an hour or so of catching up on all the car gossip, it was time to head back to the shop to put some new life into the brakes. She's got to be ready to go this spring for the trip to the Crown Town to find that elusive part at the swap, and show the world she's back in all her glory!
Two weeks ago I purchased this '64 Long step side. It Came with this bardum tow bumper. I ordered a oak bed kit from Mar-K last week. Hasn't arrive yet. MAR-K says their kits are year specific. 1960-62 same kit. 1963-66 different kit. I think it has to do with the carraige bolt hole spacing on the side angle strips and the cross sills.
Kickstart , Nice pickup. Keep showing pictures and progress. Have my Granddads 63 in a shed ,283 powerglide . Maybe you'll inspire me .
I've got it in my head that I'm going to cut all my own wood for the bed, just need some patterns. Let me know how you like the MAR-K kit.
Thanks! Pull that truck out of the shed and get it running, the more you drive it the more you will want to work on it!
Kickstarter: The load rating on this style Barnum bumper is 350 pounds tounge weight and maximum tow capacity is 3500 pounds.
Well all the brakes are looking pretty sad, leaky cylinders, a hole in a metal line, soaked shoes, not single good part. So I bent up a new line and made sure this one doesn't rub like the old one, all new parts, just waiting on the front cylinders to arrive! It's amazing what a bit of time does to parts when you don't drive them.
Actually all you will need is about a 2 inch section that is solid. That will give you the pattern for the shape on the sides, after that just measure the length of each and you are all set.
A box of new shinny parts was at the shop today, the shipping fairy must be busy! The rest of the brake parts should be here tomorrow, so if all goes well it will be back on the road this weekend!
Senior discount suppers at Denny's, she's putting her new brakes to the test. Moving from shop to shop she's been running fine. I got stopped by a guy in skinny jeans that was a semipro instagramer. He was a big time photo reblogger in the period correct chopper followers. He had a truck load of parts that he needed to sell, cause he said all the coolhipers were going mini truckin again. So I bought him a Pabst for the parts and watched him load it all into Mallory. He left phone in hand posting his next instaglam shot, hoping to go pro soon.
