Reminds me of an old joke. Farmer takes his wife into the local ford dealership, wants to trade her in for a 1/2 ton pick-up...wanted something with a smaller box...
The poor fella broke out in a sweat loading up the truck, and he did it all with a phone in one hand.
Since this truck has now turned into the daily driver, it was time for a mirror that you can actualy see something in it, the peep mirror is back in the box with the little bunnies. A nice new exhaust is on now and no more peg board hooks and house wiring to hold it on. And a new piece of shinny on the front, no more rusty bent bumper, or is that "patina".
She seemed so forlorn, Saturday as a passel of HCMFs from all over descended on the Annex. Ignored by many, but I whispered a quiet word of encouragement, and she rewarded me with a sultry smile. Roll on Mistress, an aging beauty only getting finer with age. Jay
The 250 six has been running fine and it's time to add a bit of pep. Should I go with two carbs or three. I'm leaning towards three so I can run a progressive linkage to run off the center carb for putting around. Anyone have any experiance with the two different set ups? Is one better then the other?
it doesn't matter how many carbs you put on it, it won't get out of it's own way with that granny gear 0-60 in................never
Ohhhh my.Looks like another REALLY fun build.Drove one of those for a few years when I was assistant mngr at a local parts house where I grew up. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
Well the time has come this winter to do the engine transplant. We all know the Small Block Chevy is the best and most traditional engine ever made, but thats not what is going to happen here. A SBC implant would just make her look like every other one out there and she's got more class then that. She wanted a little more size and a better shape under the hood, so we found a 348 that will give her the edge over all the other trucks out there. The engine is ready to ship, and as soon as it gets here the rebuild will start.
I still own or partially own at least half a dozen. I have a '62 Ton Dually in the weeds that is haunting me as we speak. There are enough parts floating around to make a good solid driver out of the old girl but in an effort to make her personality clear she is not a mistress more of a working lady would be more correct.
The frame mounts are the same if I recall you may have to move the mounts back to the other set of holes that are all ready drilled in the frame have made that swap several times years ago cut my teeth on the 60-66 chev trucks still one of my favorites
Unloaded the engine at the shop today, Mallory will be ready to take on the world this coming year, and put all those sbc implanted air bagged girls to shame! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I've only got four pickups so far. lol A working Lady or a Mistress, they both know how to get the job done!
