Speedway totally screwed me on my header flanges, so I decided to build my own. Maybe sort of a mini-tech? I'll have starting pics of them up tonight. Still waiting on my damn transmission... Im told its on the truck on my way though so thats good... Thanks
Damn, how did Imiss this thread! Great job so far, I am looking foward to seeing this thing ready to drive! Keep up the great work and pics!
Trans is here! I don't know if your'e on here Mike but you RULE. THANKYOU! I decided to go another route on my steering and ordered a reversed Corvair box and a pittman arm. The hamb is awesome with finding the right parts. Im getting ready to buy my fuel tank too. The garage is cluttered up with furniture right now so I can barely work. I'll take this time to do some parts hunting dig? Thankyou everyone!
Scored a fuel tank and a neat-o fuel block. Heated and bent my F1 shock mounts today at work while the boss wasn't looking. Also made a weld-on bracket for my new steering box to bolt to. Hopefully this weekend front shocks, and steering components will be on. MAYBE push the car out for the FIRST TIME too! Stay tuned! Im getting ready to make another thrash on the car (maybe the last.) to get it on the road. I realize this wont be a show stopper or a perfect traditional hot rod, I really dont care anymore. Itll be safe, cool looking, and loud as hell. I cant wait.
Ive been sick, I hope its not that swine ******** going around. Found some time to work on it though this past week. Ive got a big order coming in soon, including my trans adapter and new steering column. Stay tuned! Thanks
I turned 21 today, woo! Ok time to get back to work. Ive got everything to finish my steering and brake/clutch system coming (in the mail as I type) New column, drag link/tie rod, U-joint, clutch pedal ***embly, tie rod ends, fuel pedal/linkage, carb rebuild kits, random hardware...that might be it, Im too tired to think right now. Turning 21 tends to drain you a little bit. Expect heavy progress in the next few weeks. 3 peices left to the puzzle: Hurst 3 speed shifter/kit Radiator Driveshaft all thats left after that is the wiring and plumbing of the damn thing, and brake guts and details really. Im ready to drive my car already! Pics soon!
Got my clutch pedal mounted tonight, steering mounted, wheel adapter made. The ****er steers now. I had to heavily modify a '55 Chevy truck brake pedal setup to run my clutch (solid rod linkage to my clutch fork will be made for it soon.) Next up is to purchase some more X member material to make transmount. I keep forgetting the camera! More to come. Thanks everyone!
****ty picture, but you get the idea, for such a tight space its gonna work out pretty well. I need to finish my column drop and make that 300 mile drive to get my transmission. (Found a 4 speed toploader for my motor) Then its really time to blow it apart for boxing/welding while the motor finds a home at the machine shop for a full rebuild, including boring and a bigger cam (My dads handling the engine, hes ****ing amped about it!) Im pretty stoked too. I mocked up my firewall tonight too. The motors gonna have about a 3"-4" setback into the cowl. I had to set it back so my tie rod wouldn't make contact with my motor mount up front. Its gonna fit pretty well, I might have to put a tiny notch in the top of my cowl to make a little more room for my carb. But **** it, its a hot rod. I know I babble alot about this car, Im just super ****ing happy haha Thanks everyone
Finished my column drop tonight and started t******* my firewall. Its supposed to rain tomorrow but Ima try to get my firewall mounted by the week's end. Bonneville 2010? We'll see. Thanks
Every night for the past week thrashing. Tonight was my only night off of it from the rain. More to come everyone thanks!
Charlie, Thanks for the progress updates. What's this about a three speed trans ? I thought you waited almost a year for a 5 speed ? 41 Dave
Neither! Found a Warner T-85 topshift trans so Im gonna use that. Should be picking it up soon. In the meantime I made some different motor mounts, the right way!
Finished my motor mount, just needs to be final welded out/cleaned up. Header flanges came in too! Thanks EEZY T! hahaha
Charlie, Sounds like you are making some very good progress. What's next on your build list ? Any parts you still need ?
