Moal's work is great- as expected for a car of the price range this peice falls into. I would rather see a set of traditional mirrors and a few less things in the way of "accessories"........Overall ,a beautiful car .
I thought this thread was going to be about Speedway reproducing 32 fords, and what people thought about that. That would have been interresting. but ya, too many details, but for sure a good looking car. I just want the blower. trey
IMHO, when someone builds a car for the show circuit its hard to stand out. often times one 32 looks like every other 32. to get the judges to even look at your car is somtimes difficult it has to be over the top. In this case this car will do very well at a judged show , but in the real world it just aint' right. Carg
Interesting...I wonder if Michaelangelo took the same beating when he did that "gaudy" Cisten Chappel? It's hard to identify with this kind of car if you are completely close minded. Bottm line is...this is a killer car, the craftmanship is incredible, and yes, if I had that kind of money and wanted to make a statement on the show circuit, there's no doubt that will do it as that's what it was built to do, not drive across country and go to a show, set in the sun and get slobber drunk. Wait and see and no, I don't even own a gold chain nor anything else with gold in it, and yes I am a traditional hot rodder.
Another car to push out of the trailer onto the stage at Barrett=Jackson and then push into the new owners trailer. Yawn. I always wonder why these high end builders always have to try to redesign PERFECTION, like a duece, '40 Ford Coupe, '36 Roadster, '34 3 window, '67 Camaro or simular? Why not apply all those radical ideas to some things that obviously fell short of the mark? Like a Studebaker Lark? AMC Matador? Sorta makes me think that 2 extra breasts are a good idea in a bucket of chicken, but not on Pamela Anderson. It IS possible to have too much of a good thing. Your mileage may vary. Call for freak consultation. Seize door for details. chili
my favorite detail is the $15 pep boys fuel pressure regulator "disguised" with a custom billet knob. other than that, what can i say that hasn't already been said? neat details, poor overall package.
I was sort of overwhelmed when I first saw it....took a few days to read the artical and look at the pics. Unbelevable workmanship and details, but as has been said, a "little overdone"...But, my hats off to the individuals who created this statement of art, true craftsmen...
I have looked at this car now for a couple weeks--and still not sure what it wants to be----beautiful craftsmanship---but just---TOO MUCH OF EVERYTHING! I'm just finishing up a 29 roadster and had lots of ideas---but tried to tone down things and still get what i wanted it to look like. Like someone said-----sometimes less is more.
I think I like Speedy Bill's car better. I'm with Zenor...Dick Van Dyke should be driving that car...it's got Chitty Chitty Bang Bang written all over it....and I must say that they did an excellent job hiding the wings...
I think we all agree that the talent it took to do the work on this car is second to none, correct? However, it is "Too much of a good thing". What was he trying to achieve with the look of the car? It's a mish-mosh of different styles and era's. Each individual part, in and of itself, is pretty cool. But as a whole it doesn't work, at least for me. I'm even ok with there being too many gadgety pieces on it, but at least try to keep the pieces from the same era. Is it a custom? Is it a speedway car? Is it a hot rod? Is it a sports car (Weber carbs....come on). My 2 cents.....
That coupe seriously kicks ass. As soon as I saw this roadster the first time, I knew EXACTLY who built it, before I even cracked open SR. He is an artist. I agree, it's too much. Royce's car was the perfect balance. This one newest Moal car is just a little too far. The PARTS are unbelievable. The SUM of those parts is visual overkill. I bet if it were not sooooo nice, and left a little rough, more pieces painted to blend in, THEN we'd all be falling all over ourselves... because it would look more purpose built and realistic... and not like a 7 figure exercise in "what if?".
Beautiful work, but he should have started another car when this one was done. It's over-done. By the way, those "olive" headlights still make me ill. Just an opinion, I don't care if they are the "trendy" thing.
