If the wheelbase is 108", how much longer wil the hood need to be? 2" over stock?

He is saying hood length stock, and he says he's mocked it up and everything works.

I've studied the bone's cars, Larry's 3w, and it seems to work out with a stock 32" long hood. Larry has commented in other threads that the front crossmember is 1.5" back from stock.

Looking at my standard spring over roadster in my garage, 107" wheelbase, there wouldn't be room to push the axle forward another inch, and clear the chin of the grille shell.

But like everything else, when you plan these things out from the start when the rails are in the jig, it works out perfectly. My new roadster is going to have this setup, but I'm planning to pinch from the cowl forward, I just can't get into the kink at the middle fo the hood line.

  3. Good start, keep posting your progress. I like the truck in the back!

that frame and grill looks really neat. Is there enough supports in that frame though. Is it gonna twist and bend once you take it for a spin?

Looks good I really like the front suspension its going to sit nice!

  10. That frame looks cool and sits nice in the front. How much are the rails pinched?

  11. This is looking good! I am doing something similar right now and I have a question about the length of the bones. I see a pipe on the tie rod end of the bone, to lengthen it. Is there some science to this length? Does it affect suspension travel, or is it locate it past the reveal?

Keep us posted. Really nice pics.

YOU NEED TO DO A "HOW TO" ON HOW YOU DID THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER SET UP. THAT IS SWEET! I am at the poing of getting my frame, and I have a no-drop front axle (hey-it was cheap), I was going to leave it alone, but now....GREAT JOB SO FAR!

Lookin' good so far. Hard to go wrong building it Bones style. When you return to the HAMB Village, remember to bring dry socks (and maybe spare shoes). vic

Also, take a look at the last couple issues of Street Rodder Magazine. They have been showing the build-up of a '32 chassis out of the Bones shop....

Nice! Is your radiator 1" or 2" shorter than stock? If you PM me we can discuss your DeSoto needs.

here's a pick of my now roadster (almost...waiting for the body) before when it had a truck cab on it and another when it had a 31 slant window cabriolet cowl on it. first couple are stock height...others are with five leaves removed.....I turned the license plate to the top when I took the leaves out.
Never mind...don't have pics posted to a website....email me your email and I'll send picks...arealestate@hotmail.com
