Hummn , being color blind, I’ve never noticed it.
We bought an OT Explorer one time, it was late on a cloudy day. Parked it in front of the lot office while we did the paperwork, it was under a street light and looked blue to me. Next morning, I looked out in the driveway and there was a Green Explorer sitting there in the sunlight! I thought we had drove the wrong car home! Wife said, no, it’s green, thought you knew that? I felt stupid, under the streetlight it looked blue to me, but for sure it was green as grass out in the sun. Something about the paint and artificial light made it look totally different. That’s why I won’t buy green cars. If we are looking at something I always ask her now what color it is, if it’s green, I pass on it. I’m confused enough without a paint color confusing me more!

For me, the style of the car chooses the color. I do tend to lean more towards stock colors, I will admit.

My 64 Camino was originally Aqua, but repainted to black then red before I got it. After I wrecked it when I was 17, it was repainted a different red. I've always wanted to go back to the original Aqua, but didn't have the capacity when I was younger and don't want to ruin driving it now that I'm older.

My 51 Henry J will be a dedicated drag car. I would love to shoot it with some carny flake with an orange candy on it. It would really pop in the sun. But it will never be a show car. It's going to get raced and beaten on. It only needs to look good from the bleachers. In that case, it's currently painted Rustoleum black that will probably stay. It's a whole lot easier to keep looking neat as I scratch the fenders with wrenches etc.....I do have some idea for graphics that may grace the doors, hood or trunk lid but I'll post those once they're done rather than give my ideas away.

I'm cheap. Always wanted a car with red and white tuck and roll upholstery but when I found these new bucket seats in black vinyl, thought I need a car color that will go with black instead. Should be easy to match black vinyl for the rest of the interior. That meant that I needed a color for the car that just screams HOT ROD. Orange, it is.
