Hey hey, please no Amish jokes. I happen to be an Amish HAMBer. Just chopped the buggy 6". It already has big and littles. Swapped out the big orange triangle for 37 Ford taillights. Now I'm trying to line up a shorter pony to keep everything in proportion. Keep an eye open for a tech article.

My number one favorite frame. One of those will look good under my coupe. Nice score, keep us posted.

I still think you should have kept the Chevy frame. Seriously. If anyone is looking for an amazing, stock Chevy frame with axles ask JJ about his. If had a few extra bucks I would buy it from him and build a car around it.

You know how I feel about your build and I'm all for it. With everything you thought out it will be pretty ****in cool when it's all done.

Let me know when shop night is at your place. I'm ready!

I'm very interested to see progress on this one... please keep us updated throughout the build.

Perhaps I should have stuck with the original frame. But I probably would have regret it down the line. The refinement of this frame compared to the original is on a whole other level as we talked about a couple weeks ago. I think that by introducing the '32 Ford frame the car will present itself as a well thought out Hot Rod with nothing left on the table. All chips in Ron-A-****y!

And just let me know when shop night is going on at all. Seriously, 3000 square foot garage just begging for us to rub it the right way. I know I got my moneys worth last weekend with my brother's frame being worked on. That was worth every penny just to be around Del, Jeremy and my Brother as we worked on something together. Get your "Nobody cares about your Buick" over there or let rip into Jeremy's '50!

  9. Ditto I love Dennis's frames and was scopin' that one out on Epay as well. Although I must admit I'd prefer mine to have an A rear X member.

    Nice score!

The A rear cross member is in the works my friend. I am going to have to un-pinch the rear anyhow so I would like to throw that in while I'm there.

Alright, alright let put this to rest. If anybody is willing to trade me a '32 Ford 5W for my '31 Chevy I will do it......anybody? I didn't think so.

Let me make the deal a bit sweeter. I wil trade my '31 Chevy 5W body, Ch***is and I will throw my '26 "T" Roadster in to even the playing field. I would even settle for a 3W.

Since that is out of the way, I think that the Chevy ch***is looks like a turd under open wheel cars. I absolutely love the Chevy body that I have and would not trade it or a Model A at all. If I would have stuck with the chevy ch***is I would have always regretted keeping my build from going the extra distance.

And as for the Ch***is, now that we have this shop for storage there is no reason to part with it unless the money is absolutely right. After all I plan on throwing a '29 or a '27 Ford Roadster on that Ch***is like the Chuck Spurgin roadster!:D:D:D:D:D

Alright, sorry, I just thought I would second your tire/wheel choice plan. I ran 4" wide fives all around with skinny ribs up front and 7.50's in the rear. It would look sweet on your coupe, IMO.

Also, the idea of a '32 Ford frame under a '32 Chubby is something that is definately traditional at least in my eyes. I can see someone wanting flathead V8 power and a strong and aesthetically appealing frame under a nice coupe body regardless of its nameplate back in the day.

Hahahaha.......just don't dare put a deuce frame under the buggy....

Remember Weird Al's video "Amish Paradise"...

As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain
I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain
But that's just perfect for an Amish like me
You know, I shun fancy things like electricity
At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows
Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... fool
And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that
Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone
I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline
Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin
But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine
Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699

Alright so I finally had a chance to get back out to the garage and look at what was holding the frame from sitting properly. Turns out behind the rocker panel there is a body shim (?) that held the frame up from sitting down. Also in the back right in front of the c notch, the two main rails that make up the subfloor were flat as the frame arched up. The only thing holding the frame from fully channeling itself is the firewall which is a simple fix. I think that when I begin to make the sub floor I am going to make the body sit 1/2" above what you see here in the pics. It will then be a 1" channel so that the body sits over the frame slightly taking away some of the bulk of the frame and seating everything as if body were made for the frame.

This is what I believe to be a shim that needed to go so that is seated properly.

Rear sub rail needed an adjustment. Sawzall!

When I figure out the floor situation I will then tackle cutting the bottom part of the firewall. That way I don't cut too much.

Lastly, I am starting to realize why everybody that builds a Chevy either has the car sitting way up in the air like Gas Comp car or just completely hammered low like a few that have been posted here on the HAMB. I am going to be running a 7.50 rear tire and as big as it is, the wheel well swallows that thing. The tires really don't look all that huge like they do on some model a's and deuces. I think that car may have to come down a couple more inches then anticipated. Who knows at this point right?

One thing is for sure, I am ready to trade in my ****** for a set of testicles and get started on this thing. A wise man once told me it's just metal so I am going to dive into this thing more and more now. I'll keep you updated with what ahead.

Channeled the 1.5? I thought about having it that way sort of like how the Pinkee's '32 rails look but I don't want to interrupt the reveal line.

There was a thread a couple of days ago showing a black 32 Chev. coupe on 32 Ford rails and it was the best looking sum***** I've seen in along time. Your idea useing the Hemi. just makes it even cooler. Keep up the good work. Now I see why you thought ****ie Flippen's coupe was so cool. His was cool and I'm sorry he can't find it, it just never ran the speeds quoted in RJ. Good luck with your build and keep us up to date as you go.

Looks great!! Is the location of the body in relation to the frame where it's going to be placed for and aft? It looks as if the body should slide forward a bit to center the c-notch. The notch can be relocated later if thats where it will be placed.
I love it! Now get to cutting!!!!!

No, the frame as of right now can go pretty much anywhere it wants. I realized that it need to be pushed forward a couple of inches to line the c-notch up but seeing how it was only me yesterday and the engine hoist is at the next door neighbors, I can't move this thing myself. I tried but the jack stands kept moving and wanting to tip. The couple inches forward will help the way it sits at the cowl too. It need about .125 of an inch for it to be perfect.

So once you get your *** over to my house to help we can put it in it's place.

  28. I like it with the slight channel job...really like the direction you are heading with this one...see ya at GNRS
