    So, so many spectacular cars, some costing $50,000 originally, others no less beautiful ones that cost $500.
    With a decade like this, it might be easier to list the unsuccessful styling jobs...
    I would start that list with a look at the '35-39 period, when many manufacturers and stylists (not all!) ran into difficulty dealing with the trends to pontoon fenders and body curvature. This period generated a chasm between some brilliant and beautiful uses of the new trends and some utterly dowdy messes. A very different time for stylists than 1930-34, when the common elements of styling allowed an infinity of successful interpretations. The Europeans dodged some of the mess by running behind the times on many cars.
