Yes! It was supposed to roam around Antarctica and got stuck a few times....

It was called the Antarctic Snow Cruiser, built in the late 1930's to explore Antarctica. When they got it there, they discovered the slick tires couldn't get enough grip to go anywhere on snow. Who'd a thunk it? They struggled to get it the 92 miles from where it was unloaded from the ship to the US Antarctic base, where it saw little use. It was abandoned in 1946 to be entombed deep in the ice, having accomplished little of its mission. It was found in 1958 when uncovered by shifting ice. At that time it was covered with 23 feet of snow and ice, only to be lost again. Google "Antarctic Snow Cruiser" for the full story.
