    ...I feel strange...happy, but not?...

Bruce called me early this AM and said he'd been up most of the night just thinking about the coupe. He saw the ad in Hemmings. He has been collecting every picture of the coupe he could find for the past year.

He said he contacted Rolling Bones a while back about building a Doane Spencer Coupe, and then he saw mine. He asked if anyone was serious about buying it, and I told him I had 2 potential buyers asking questions...but no firm offers.

He asked what I had priced it to them for, and when the figure came out of my mouth...he yelled SOLD!

I told him he was going to make the coupe famous, and he said "No, it became famous the day you built it"...cool guy...

Congratulations-to you and the buyer. You got to make Hot Rod history. Not many of us will be able to say that. Upward and onward!

...and so the cycle of hot rodding continues. Sometimes it's more thrilling to collect the parts and build it. Then once it's done you love drivivng it but you want that thrill of finding the parts and building another one.

Good luck with your next project... and the next, and the next...)

When I spoke to you up in Oklahoma Larry, it stood out to me that you said you went into a lot of debt to build this car and as you were building it, you knew that when you were done, you wouldn't be able to keep it, or you would go bankrupt. I've thought about you saying that tons of times thinking how hard it would be to build your ultimate car, but not be able to keep it. I wondered if that was what it was like when people built the Kopper Kart or other famous rides. Outsiders say, "You'd be crazy to sell that" but you've got no choice.

You made a work of art like a Rembrandt or a Pic***o. People see those and don't say that it's the person that bought it who did that. They remember the artist. Meyers is right. That car was famous the day you said it was finished here on the HAMB. I'm glad I got to see it when you owned it, and got to sit in it. You don't know how much that made my weekend. My fiance was sick of hearing me talk about it I'm sure!

Congrats on the sale Larry. You've got a vision, and now you have the cash to make another dream come true. Hopefully this time you can keep this one! :D

Well, if the car was allowed to pick it's own garage to live in and it's perfect garage mate that would be the obvious choice for the three window. Congrats to all involved.

I just hope you can get the "smelly fat guy" smell out of it before he picks it up. I'd hate to see this deal fall through. :p

Congratulations Larry! I can't wait to see what you do next. (The truck Danny posted a pic of sure looks like a good starting point. ;))

After reading that forbes article, I think the right guy bought it! Ask if you can have visitation rights, (his garage of toys is awesome and would be worth the trip) or rights to buy it back if he ever sells, or p***es away.

    You did right Larry!

Congrats Larry -- and a bonus for us out here on the west coast. Now we get to see the car IN PERSON. It's in good hands.
